Title: Dead Bang Guns
Post by: enaz40 on August 21, 2005, 10:08:58 AM
I stumbled across this web site by accident, has anyone ever done business with this guy? I've never seen this site mentioned on CZ Forum. He claims to have lowest of the low prices and does have some very good prices posted. www.deadbangguns.com/ (http://www.deadbangguns.com/)

Just to let you know someone read your question.  Never heard of them.

You might also ask on The High Road.

I took a look at the site..seems to me he's acting as kind of a 'middle man' - basically, you tell him what you want and he finds it from wherever then sells it to you. Not a system I'd be comfortable with personally, but if it's ok for you, then why not?

I'd be inclined to verify that they have an FFL, and also find out where they do business and check with that city's Better Business Bureau.

The ATF now requires that all FFLs have a store front, so he's either been in business for a long, long time, (they've grandfathered some dealers)  or there's something not quite kosher about some of the stuff he's posted on his website.

Thanks Walt, I think you meant  thehighroad.org , a site that I'm familiar with. The highroad.com goes to some business website, not gun related.

It just seems a little odd that this fellow claims thousands of customers but no one seems to have heard of him. I'm old enough and have been ripped off enough to always be a bit suspicious when things seem just too good. He may be legit but I'm going to check some more before sending him any money.

Yes, you're right: thehighroad.org... My fingers went in the wrong direction.

Its a particularly good source for answer to questions like yours.

Unless they changed the rules in the past few months, you need a place of business, not a store front.  You can still do business from your home as long as it's legitimate business and not just for you/ friends.  You must also meet all zoning regs for your place of business.

You're right.  I considered a store front with a place of business.  The ATF, more correctly, wants a facility away from your home that is in a location properly zoned for doing business.  (Not truly a store-front.)

A number of my friends had 01 FFLs (dealers) and were convinced to NOT renew by the ATF over the past few years.  The ones that really had a separate business location kept theirs.
