Title: TSO has finally arrived
Post by: George16 on March 21, 2018, 10:10:22 PM
I finally got my TSO that I had been waiting for. I got an email notification last Friday evening that the store had some so I ordered one right away as a birthday present for myself .

Took it apart, cleaned, lube, polished the trigger internals/hammer strut and replace hammer and recoil springs.

Here are some pictures.

After polishing and installation of CGWs 13# main spring:

Score!!

What holster are you going to use for it?

I ordered a Red Hill Tactical holster last Friday. I?ll have to wait for a month for it though. I?m thinking about getting the DAA race master and be done with it.

Using a Ghost 'The One' for my SP-01 project, but it also fits the TS Blue well.  As for a more 'traditional' Kydex holster, I got one from Steadfast Holsters, which I'm going to mount on a Boss hanger.  Steadfast got it to me in about three weeks.

That looks nice. By the way, if you want to replace the screws and make it adjustable using your hands instead of a screw driver, you can go to Home Depot and buy #8-32 thread thumb screws from Home Depot.

It what I did on all my holsters.

The three black drop off hangers were made by me off of the original BOSS which is the red one  :D

That looks beautiful!

Thank you.

Range outing today was very successful. The Orange ate all my 125 Gr reloads without any hiccups. I shot using 125 Gr coated lead with 4.0 Gr Winchester 231. Recoil is very minimal and the gun is flat shooting. I installed the 11# recoil spring and I liked the felt recoil. It was very accurate too. It?s almost as good as my Wilson Combat considering this is a race gun. It?s a joy to shoot.

Less than 2? at 25 yards I with 125 Gr is on par with the target they sent with the gun from the factory. I?m very, very pleased with this gun. One of my friends ended up ordering one earlier before they go out of stock again.

Can?t wait to get my holster so I can compete on USPSA Limited Minor while using my Shadow 2 in Production.

That trigger is crazy light.  Even my TS Blue measured around 2.7 out of the box, and I already find that very light.

I really like it. It?s a little bit lighter compared to my shadow 2s SA which is about 1# 14.3 ozs now. I just ordered the 6SAO flat trigger and floating trigger pin from Cajun and it?ll be arriving on Monday.

By the way, the reset on the shadow 2 is now very short and the DA is very smooth after I installed the CGW Type 1 disconnector.

Also installed yesterday was the extended Shadow 2 safety on the TSO that I ordered from Robin Sebo?s website for the Czech Republic. It took 12 days for me to receive it and that was quick coming across the pond.

It was a perfect fit and dropped in without any modification at all.

Yep. I also installed one on my TS Blue.  It took a little but of fitting on the main safety 'lug' to smoothen out the engagement.

I finally see what all you TSO owners are talking about. I finally bit the bullet and bought a TSO. It came in today and I picked it up from my FFL.

WOW! That trigger is unbelievable!  With my Lyman digital gauge it measures 1 lb 11 oz and it is very consistent, only varying about 2 tenths of an ounce at the most. Glassy smooth, with no creep, maybe 1/16" take up and then a sudden wall, and boom, it fires. Cycle the slide and you get maybe 1/8" reset and then another unbelievably crisp shot.

I thought my Shadow 2, Shadow Orange and P226 Sig SAO were pretty good, and they are, but this just blows them away, no comparison.

Plus it just feels so good in my hands. The Shadow 2 has a sort of "bump" in the backstrap that I didn't really notice before, but I do now.  The TSO feels just feels better and really fits the hand well, without that bump and is about as comfortable and as perfect as any gun I've ever owned.

I can't wait to take it to the range for it's first session.

Congrats on your new purchase and welcome to the club. It?s truly a nice pistol and a joy to shoot. I shoot it more now than I do my shadow 2 or my other guns.

I had been on the waiting list at about a half dozen gun shops for a few months. I was actually notified a couple of weeks ago and was in the process of filling out the payment and FFL information only to find out when I pressed the final "buy" button that I had been beaten out of it probably by seconds.
I just happened to be checking Gunbroker recently and found two sellers who were asking only a few dollars more than the lowest price I've seen at online shops, and I jumped on it. At $1599 it was about $80 to $100 higher than the lowest price I've seen, but since it's almost impossible to get one at that price any longer, I thought it's time to go ahead and buy. I generally stay away from Gunbroker, but sometimes it's necessary on hard to find firearms.
Since then all of the other TSOs for sale at that price have disappeared. There are still several at $1700-1800, but for me that was just too much. I realize they're in high demand but I refuse to be gouged that much.
Even though it cost me more than I wanted to spend, I feel that I didn't do too bad. Once you get one in your hands and feel that ultra smooth trigger, the few extra dollars are well worth it, or at least it was for me. That plus the aggravation of waiting for weeks and weeks only to find out you've been notified that it is in stock again but you didn't respond fast enough was enough to justify spending a little more to finally get one.

I'm getting a set of LOK "Bogies" grips for my TS Blue.  Matches are starting to move outside, which means my hands will start getting sweaty and those aluminum grips are going to get super-hot.  I wish I had the sharper front-back checkering like on the TSO and on the Shadow 2.  Don't know what I'm going to do for my S2 since I like the feel/contour of the Henning aluminum grips so much.  Might get another set of VZ Palm Swells since they aren't a thick as the LOK's and closer to the Hennings.

Have LOK shave off .1? off of the total thickness of the palm swell. That?s what I did when I ordered mine. I think the regular LOK palm swell are around 1.214?. If so, have him shave it down to 1.114? for better figment and feel on your hand.

Might look into that for the LOK Shadow 2-cuit Palm Swells.

Finally installed the shadow 2 mag release and blended the magwell on my TSO too. Also installed a dual illuminated trijicon RMR and removed the slide ride to trim some weight.

There is a local shop that has a couple TSOs. I was thinking about trying to do some trading but I noticed that one of the guns was in 9mm and the other is 40 S&W. Which one has a better reputation? More usages? I have never been to a match, so I need some advice. Thanks

You can?t go wrong with either one. However, if you compete in IDPA or USPSA, get the .40 so you can shoot in Limited major which gives more points. Having the .40 also allows for easier conversion to 9mm with just a change of the barrel and mag whereas changing from 9mm to .40 requires changing the barrel, mag and extractor.

If I had to do it again and knowing what I know now, I would have bought the .40 instead of the 9mm.

Good morning George. I?m new to the CZ pistol having only a 75b sao for about 3 months. I have 7 Dan Wesson 1911s and the 715 revolver. I like them all for different reasons. I?m writing you because I just purchased a tac orange in 9mm. It should be here later this week. Would you please share with me any knowledge you have regarding break in period or anything else you may think would be helpful. Also have you attempted to purchase additional mags. Not quite sure about what exactly the model for the mag is. I?ve seen some costing 70 dollars. Can we use others for less money. I thank you in advance for helping a CZ newbie. Respectfully Fred

TacSports and Czechmates use different magazines than the standard CZ 75 pistols (more expensive)

The floorplate is differently shaped on the TSO, so it may not be able to use the regular TS magazines (which are about $30 cheaper). I don't have a TSO, so I can't confirm that. Anyone one with both a TS and a TSO should jump in here.

Fred, congrats on your new TSO. With regards to break-in, I shot about 400-500 rounds of factory federal 115 Gr ammo. I didn?t experience any problems shooting with the factory or nds with everything stock in the Pistol. All I did was did a tear down, clean up and re-oil the TSO prior to shooting it.

After the factory rounds, I removed the stock 16# recoil spring and installed a 10# spring to suit my reloads. No problems with it as well.

As for the mags, you don?t have any other choice other than the TSO and czechmate mags. I bought additional mags but it came with the czechmate 😂. The mags you need will be the CZmags for the czechmate and TSO. I have not seen or known any cheaper alternative. Greg Cote has the best prices when it comes to these mags.

The mags you need will be the CZmags for the czechmate and TSO. I have not seen or known any cheaper alternative. Greg Cote has the best prices when it comes to these mags.
Thanks George. You have confirmed what i understood to be the plan for the break in period. I?m a strong believer in FP 10 for lube. Been using ballistol on almost all my 1911s with the exception of the DW duty treat guns. I don?t load my own ammo and have had luck with Federal, Sellier and Bellot , Geco , and the Georgia Arms reloads. For the most part I prefer the 124 grain but have no problems with the 115. Guess I should have realized the cost of the mags. Still cheaper than some 2011 mags. Thanks for the name of the mag store. Looks great except out of stock on the ones we need. Again thanks for your help . May I contact you again when I have a chance to prepare the gun and shoot it ? Hopefully all goes well . Thanks again

Your welcome.

By the way, the 115s were only used for the break in. For my reloads, I exclusive use PD 124 Gr JHP since I also use the same reloads for my PCC to prevent lead build up in the comp. Other bullets I have used includes RMR TCFP, RNFP and JHP with Sport Pistol and Winchester 231.

Took it down yesterday. Was impressed with the attention to detail both in and out . Have been using custom 1911s for some time now and was lured into CZ after a good deal on a 75 B sao. This tac looks like a whole new ball game. I certainly will let you know what I think after today. My plan is for what they shot at the factory. 115 grain Sellier and Beloit. Maybe some 124 Federal.

It?ll shoot better with 124 Gr ammo. That I can assure you  :).

In my experience, there?s no muzzle dip with the 124 Gr. Granted those are my reloads compared to the factory Federal 115 Gr I used to break it in.

Nonetheless, the gun is heavy enough to negate any violent recoil or excessive muzzle dip as long as you do your part in gripping it hard.

Have fun!

George. The pistol ran without a flaw. My shooting accuracy is another story. I never got a comfortable purchase on the gun. The mag release was making my palm sore after 20 rounds. As much as I wanted to use the gas pedal it seemed to be in the way so to speak. So back we go tomorrow outdoors for round 2. I?m not going down in the first round ever. Lol

See if you can change the orientation of the mag release pad so it doesn?t get in the way. Also, if you?re not worried about the slide locking back after the last round, you can use the pin instead of the slide stop.

I use my TSO in Competition so I installed the pin and got rid of the slide stop since it was getting in the way of my grip.

Keep on shootin?  8).

I dabble in limited minor but concentrating on PCC now since my old eyes can barely see the iron sights. It?s not fun to be looking at blurry things 😂.

copy that.. I ran my tso in limited minor until this year.. pretty amazing 9mm - but ive jumped up the ladder quite a bit once I converted to major. I greatly underestimated how much faster I could move if just aiming for the A/C zone. minor is a bit less forgiving unless there is a bunch of steel.

Yup, that?s true. You drop a lot of points shooting minor compared to major unless you shoot all A?s and really quick in doing it.

I just shoot my 8? MPX yesterday at our local match and placed 7th out of 51 shooters and 3rd behind a PCC GM and M. I think that?s not too bad considering I shot my first PCC Match last January of this year. Still a lot to improve on especially on entrance/exits/shooting while moving so I can move up the classification ladder to A class. Classifiers and I don?t get along too well 😆.

See you in the next area 6 Match and Florida open  I didn?t compete in this years matches but will definitely go next time. I didn?t think I?m ready for these big matches yet 🤣.
