too heavy? Am I correct
-
Yes, too heavy.
-
My shooting buddy bought one for IDPA. I told him it was too heavy and he?d be ratted out..so he bought a Shadow Target II to go with it.
-
I thought the Target was too heavy also??
-
Pretty sure its good in USPSA ! I shoot both but for "FUN" USPSA is much better in my eyes. IDPA is cool,,but silly rules,,LOL USPSA ya just go and blast away,,more targets more rounds down range, equals more fun ! My 2 cents worth.

USPSA is fine...the S2 was in fact designed specifically to qualify for USPSA Production, as it does not have the 43 oz. cutoff weight that IDPA does (S2 weighting around 46 oz.). Some local or 'Outlaw' IDPA matches may be fine with someone using the S2. I don't mind the IDPA rules so much as it adds another layer of challenges, but yes some can feel a little silly.
I mostly shoot my Sig P226 SAO Legion in ESP for IDPA, and even with that I had to hone down (*cough*I mean, wear down from extreme usage*cough*) the right side safety lever to fit the 1-5/8" max width requirement.

LOL,,yea I hear ya on the Sig,,Hmmmm no one will ever notice !! No one has caught on with my SP-01 Tactical that has the CGW Pro Kit either !! :o There is one guy I shoot with that has CZs also but I have never told him either,,LOL Anyways I'm a hack so nothing is gonna help me anyways !! ;D Yea IDPA rules are Ok,,kinda one of those things that Seemed Like A Good Ideal At The Time,,Ha,Ha. Wearing cover is good and really only 18rds max per stage is kinda ok,,heck most real gun fights are over way before that I'm sure. I still shoot IDPA matches but sometimes they just bug me with some of the silly things !! Bottom line USPSA/IDPA its all shooting/practice/training so it s all good !

What's funny is the the very first match I shot with the P226 SAO....all stages started with the pistol in the box. So it was 'tested' right away, and surely enough, it barely fits with the lid closed.
-
Bet you were worried for a sec !!! ;) That's cool anyways,,we have a lot of hard core guys but I have never had to put any of my guns in the box !! Spring is around the corner in my neck of the woods so I'll be getting out in a few more weeks,,,I hope ! ;)

If only there was a way to shave off ~3 ounces from the S2 to make it legal for IDPA....Polymer guide rod?....

I think just doing that would also take it out of SSP or ESP. Maybe if they made an alloy-framed version, but that would just defeat the whole purpose of the gun itself.

Hopefully IDPA changes the rule book to allow the shadow two. At the twice monthly club I shoot with no one will care its not IDPA legal, as long as your safe. But that same club runs the state match and that won't fly.

Idpa will never add that much weight to ssp guns.

Nice pistol, but far too heavy for IDPA, then it doesn't fit in the box.
For IDPA apart from the GLOCK 34 the best in my opinion is the SP01 SHADOW, hoping that C.Z. won't discontinue the production.

I disagree about the g34. I don't know anyone who shot a g34 then tried the P320 or X5 who didn't switch.
Then there's the Q5 which is superior also probably to both.

I shoot a DA/SA Sig P226 for SSP and a P226 Legion SAO for ESP.

Saw a guy dq'd at backstoppers last year for using a Shadow 2 and a complete USPSA rig.

Wrong, just can't use a guide rod heavier than stainless steel.

I was referring to lightening the frame or slide via milling or what have you, when he said 'shave off ~ 3 oz'. Obviously a polymer guide rod won't make a rule difference. But it also probably won't make a 3 oz. difference.
