Title: Testing some new bullets for PCR
Post by: nettle on March 31, 2018, 06:43:54 PM
February this year I purchased my first CZ (PCR) and first 9mm. Having been a longtime rifle and 45acp reloader I tried some different 9mm bullets today for the first time. These are Hi-Tek coated bullets a friend casts for me. Bullets tested today:

125 gr .356" diameter SWC

125 gr .357" diameter SWC

140 gr .356 " diameter FNRP

Most accurate was the 140 gr .356" FNRP.
Second most accurate was the 125 gr .357" SWC. Difference from first place accuracy was slight.
Third most accurate (or inaccurate better said) was the .356" diameter SWC.

Tomorrow I am going to try some 140 gr .357" diameter FNRP and some 140 gr .356" RN. At first I thought testing these different bullets a waste of time and effort but after today I can see this effort is worthwhile.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is FNRP?

I think he means FPRN, which is flat point round nosed.

Do you mind stating the powder you used?  Not the amount, just the type.

I've got a bunch of 140 and 147 grain bullets and the loads I used to run in my M&P's with AA#5 don't shoot worth beans in the CZ pistols I'm shooting now.  I've tried (just a little) Unique, but still don't get the groups I get from the 115 grain bullets.

I am using Bullseye powder. Not necessarily because it may be the best 9mm powder but because I have plenty of it. I shoot a lot of 45acp also and Bullseye works well with 45acp.

Thanks.  I've got Bullseye, just haven't used it for 9MM, yet.  It's an old favorite for .38 special and .45 acp.

Have a good one.

I've seen it both ways.
