Title: Tried a 5lb sping
Post by: De-der on April 08, 2018, 09:19:53 AM
Well, this morning I put in a new Wolf Glock 5lb striker spring with Glock cup's...
the id was obviously larger so changing the cup's certainly makes sense.
It did lighten the pull by about 6oz but it seemed to change the pre travel pull,
maybe just my gun, maybe combination of my guns tolerances and the larger id
but, to me it wasn't worth the trade off and I put the stock spring back in.
Probably 30+ years of shooting / carrying 1911's spoiled me.
Anybody tried to buy a 3.5lb spring from HBI ?

Yes as a matter of fact I have. When I asked HBI about buying the spring set without the trigger they sent me one free of charge. I guess that investment worked because a later purchased their flat trigger and I am so glad it did. I am now using the 3lb spring on a CGW tool steel striker and my trigger pull measures 3 pounds 14 ounces on my Lyman Digital scale. Also added the Gray Gun's super black stainless steel guide rod with 15 pound recoil spring. With this set up I have never had a failure to feed or eject or any light primer strikes. This set up is perfect for me.

I put in the 3 pound HBI striker spring and my P10 C will set off any ammo that I put in it. Including some that are known to have hard primers. My reset is also still very tactical.

With the 3 pound HBI spring and a little polishing, my trigger pull is 3lbs., 8ozs. according to my RCBS trigger scale.

Best regards.

Well, I put in a 3.5lb HBI spring with good results.
It's about 10oz lighter and smooth up to the wall with a consistent 5lb break...
which is pretty much where I want to be.
I made time to run about 50 rd's through it yesterday and so far, this along
with replacing the sights have made a significant improvement.
Lousy weather here today and pressing home projects will make shooting
time a little scarce

I am also running the 3lb spring on the CGW tool steel striker with the HBi trigger and polished internals.  Runs flawlessly with about a 3.5lb crisp break.

Are you guys with sub 4lb triggers using these as carry guns, or are you using them as range, gamer guns? Just wondering, as a carry gun, a sub 4lb trigger strikes me as kinda light, especially for a striker fired pistol with no manual saftey..

Use my P-10 both for range and carry. My trigger finger is my manual safety.

Where did you get the HBi 3.0# spring? I looked at HBi website and didn't see it listed.  Was it part of the trigger package? (Already have the CGW trig)

Are you still using the CZ trigger?  If so, how did you get the HBI spring. Did they sell it to you?

Thanks!  I want to try them out since the Wolf Glock spring is 4.0.  I took out the spring in my newly arrived P10c and OMG, it's more than strong enough to ignite any primer!

I will try to contact HBi to see if they would sell me some :) Maybe enough of us guys do that, they might.

Yes, it's the original CZ trigger, a gentleman who has the HBI kit and didn't use the 3.5lb spring
was generous to send it my way.

Update - I contacted HBi via email and got a reply right away so if you want a set of reduced power striker springs, contact them via email.

Got the reduced power springs from HBi today. Replaced the original striker spring with the 3.0# and the CGW trigger pull went from 5.5 to 4.5 using Wheeler gauge.  Test fired it with S&B 9mm (known to be tougher primer than Fed/American Eagle) and no problem lighting them. I'm happy with the outcome!
