Title: Can P-10 c 10 round mags be converted to 15 rounds
Post by: fastlane604 on April 25, 2018, 10:38:19 AM
Is it possible to convert P-10 c 10 round mags to 15 round mags?  If so, what does it take? I live in a high cap state so I am not trying to break the law.  I saw some 10 round mags at a decent price and wondered.

I have not seen the 10 round P10C magazine because I live in a free state. However, from what I have seen as far as 10 round mags go, it's better to just purchase the full capacity magazines if your state has not infringed on your 2A rights.

Best regards.

There is no converting the mags - they have to be replaced to upgrade the capacity.

Most states that require limited cap mags insist that they not be convertible ;-)

However, they make great range/training mags.

Even if you could convert them, it would probably cost you more (parts+shipping).

In general you will have to replace the spring and remove any type of blocker that's at the base of the 10 rounder.  Takes to much effort, just buy regular mags.

Where did you see the 10 rounders at? I, unfortunately, live in NY and am stuck at 10 rounds. Would love to pick some more up at a decent price.

I'd like to see a pic of the 10 rnd mag follower and spring in comparison to the 15 rnd internals. If the only difference is that dimple in the mag body that could easily be drilled out and allow the follower to have it's full travel. If the followers are different that's a horse of another color.

They were attached to the sale of a P-10 c. The gun was $50+ under  the price of a P-10 c with 15 round mags.  That did not seem to be unusual from my brief survey of NIB P-10 c prices on gunbroker.  Guns with 10 round mags were cheaper than guns with 15 round mags.

Looking at the pictures on Greg Cote LLC's website, it looks like one could drill out the dimples and install a new spring to convert the mags... If new springs and the effort to convert are economically advantageous it may be worth it, but my guess is one wouldn't save any money - so just buy 15-rounders to begin with. Besides, there would be additional and fairly large holes in the magazine housing for debris to enter after converting.

I don't know what internals if any would need to be replaced but if one could drill out the dimples I don't think the holes would be any more an issue than the witness holes already there or that really big one on top where you load the rounds in ;)

Yeah, what's a couple extra 1/4" holes in a mag? It's not like they get dropped in the dirt regularly...

If you have to be THAT anal about a couple of small oval holes in your easily converted mags, simply put a small patch of aluminum duct tape over the hole(s) and vwa-la...no dirt intrusion.
I live in Nazifornia and converted mags for Czeds show up at IDPA matches all the time...
Simply tell the judge you converted them PRIOR to the mag ban that has already been overturned...
IMHO

PS: the 24 round, .40 cal mags. For my open TS really turn heads in Nazifornia...

Competition shooters are usually sort of anal about their equipment. Vwa-la, perhaps drop-free mags start hanging up on duct tape and no longer drop free so well... or maybe they do. Won't know until it's tried. They may at least be good for the range if it's feasible costwise. but I would personally not use them for SD or competition except in an emergency.

Hi! Since I have several CZs I decided to do a little fiddling with the magazines and found that you can remove the base plate and spring, swap them for a P-10C extended magazine spring and plate and now 10 round mag takes 13 rounds and works perfectly!

They can be converted by drilling out the dimples.  I have not done it but have seen it done.  A locel LEO did it to the mags that came with his P10.  They functioned perfectly.

Sharp drill and remove the dimples. I'd only use them for training afterwards though.
