buy factory new magazines direct from the CZ-USA webstore. They aren't cheap, but they work 100% right.

There should be no weld seam on original CZ magazines.

I doubt those are the 'Real Deal'.  At that price they are most likely the bogus 'Mfg. CZ' marked magazines.  Genuine new CZ-USA Factory Magazines for the CZ82/83 IN 9x18mm/.380ACP cost right around $40.

These from Greg Cote, LLC are most likely genuine.  I have dealt with him before and they were the 'Real Deal'.

I cannot find factory replacement magazines for my CZ 83. I do however have one, I am pretty sure is a factory mag. That magazine works flawlessly and does not have a visible seam. The brand new faulty magazines have a  welded seam that has been ground opposite the round indicator holes. I disassembled both magazines and compared each part. These were my observations that were possibly causing FTF?s (failure to feed):

The plastic follower has a hole in it to allow it to connect it to the spring. The the factory drilled the wrong position of the hole causing the spring to protrude outside of the follower body making it scrape the interior of the magazine as it travel up as rounds are spent causing drag. The square hole that was punched for the magazine lock has caused the metal to slightly protrude into the wall of the magazine. You can feel this with your finger. You cannot feel this in the factory magazine. As the spring scrapes it?s way along the magazine wall as rounds are fed, it gets hung up on the protruding metal around the magazine stop (square)  hole. This causes the FTF.
Solution: take the follower and while using a dremel carefully enlarge the hole for the spring in an egg shape allowing the spring to ride next to the follower and away from the magazine wall. Using a bastard file, file the protruding metal inside the magazine at the square hole so the follower can travel smoothly.

After doing this to 3 magazines they are working fine. Although I had to file one a couple more times. Hope it works for you if you are having these issues.

Apex has surplus mags in stock for $24.95. Best deal around for the real thing. Ordered 2, received Czech military surplus marked mags, not the current fakes floating around.

Mine both have the Czech army crossed swords mark on the side, and look unissued. Both have the unmarked sheet metal base. And better yet, they work perfectly.

I bought one of the mags from Classic Firearms. It is definitely not a real CZ-UB mag (new or surplus).

Whoever is making / importing the bogus "cz mfg" magazines needs a serious kick in the nads.  O0

I enlarged the follower hole on the two mags I bought and noted that the spring seems snug up against the follower now. I couldn't feel any protrusion in the area of the catch hole, so I left that alone. Follower operation seems smooth, and I had no problem loading 12 rounds.

I plan on doing another range trip tomorrow or the next day to try them out. These have GOT to be cheap Asian knock-offs - Khyber Pass level stuff. But if they can be made to work reliably I won't complain.

Just got back from the range. After 125+ rounds, the stovepipe problem is not as bad as before - ~2-3 FTFs for each magazine load. I noted that they usually occurred as the last round was up for feed, and about halfway through the magazine. So there you have it. These "CZ mfg" mags are definitely Khyber Pass quality, but CAN be used (prior to the mod every other round was an FTF).

So there is some hope if you can tolerate some annoyance. Hope this helps. Me, I'm on the lookout for real surplus CZ magazines...

Recently ordered and received 2 of the magazines that are offered by ApexGunParts.com. Comparing these 2 magazines to the 3 that I received when I bought my CZ82 from a local person. The difference is night and day!! The price is great, especially when compared to other sources (if you can find them), and only $6 more than the unreliable ones that others are describing.

They both have the dimple on the lower part of the mag, and crossed swords. One of the others that came with the pistol had crossed swords but no dimple. The other two were straight walled and not marked with swords. The new ones release and drop free consistently with the mag release on the right side. Mag release button on left side does not seem to work effectively with any of my mags.

Hoping to take my stuff to a range and put some rounds through the pistol. More to follow.....

Got one of the deals from AimSurplus, and received it today. I have not taken my CZ82 to the range yet, but just finished a review of the deal from Aim. This deal was great!!!  The mag drops free like a CZ should!!! The 2 that I have from Apex work great too, but the "slickness" of the one from Aim is significantly better. I've gotta figure out how to make sure that all 6 now function as reliably as the one from Aim!!

I just got the 10 rd mag from J&G, and it looks legit. The packaging says CZ-USA (MAG CZ 83 .380 10 RD; Product 11301), and the mag drops free as it should. No visible seams on the sides like the knockoffs.

If the snow ever melts here I'll take it to the range and report back.

Hello all, this is my first time posting, I just purchased a CZ82 "chipped grip" from J&G last week, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the gun. I wanted to get a few more magazines.

I found and ordered 3 from jesticearms.com. They were only 15.95 each. All 3 that I received had the crossed swords, and were in great shape.

tried the "cz mfg" mag at the range today. Three times it had a fail to feed on the last round and only locked the slide back on empty once in 5 mag loads. Good thing I had one of the real vz 82 (crossed swords) surplus magazines with me. This is one of my carry pistols, and the "cz mfg" is junk, I doubt it will even get used as a range mag.

I am glad that they run well for you.  Those do have the indentation on the bottom that the two extra that I bought from Centerfire Systems have, while the one that was in the pistol was solid, flush to the bottom plate.  I did have to tune the feed lips on those to tighten them up.  I was out yesterday with my CZ 83 and they ran much better after tweaking them.  I also changed up the reloads using an Xtreme RNFP bullet which is loaded a bit shorter than the prior RN FMJ that I was having FTF with, so I am not entirely sure if it was the feed lip tightening ..the ammo...or both.

I just placed an order for two, supposedly new OEM magazines from CDNN at 46.97 net delivered.  I'll let you know how they run when I get them and get out to the range.

with the visible front seam in the CDNN pictures, I'm fairly certain those are not real CZ-UB magazines, but instead are the "cz mfg" crap. They (CDNN) claimed the "cz mfg" mags for the vz 52 were "factory CZ" when in reality they are 4th rate garbage.

I finally got to shoot my 82 today. I have 2 crossed swords mags, and one mfg CZ. The crossed swords were flawless through three times each. The mfg CZ had on failure each full mag. Once in the middle of the mag, which was cleared with just a whack on the bottom of the grip. The other time was the last round, which ended up pointing straight up, jammed between the slide and the feed ramp. I had to lock the slide back and drop the mag to clear. I may decide to toss that mag in the scrap bin.

I just received them in the mail today and yes, you are absolutely correct.  They are CZ Mfg. like the two crummy mags that I got from Centerfire Systems when I bought the pistol.  I have contact CDNN for return, I won't even try them.  I measured the lip gap and it is .350...should be not more than .340 IIRC.  It will be interesting how they handle the return...I see they want to charge 15% and I pay the postage.  I may photograph the packaging and forward t it to CZ-USA.  they may be interested in knowing how a distributor is selling knock off accessories.

UPDATE:  They sent a pre-paid FedEX label for me to return...need to wait to see what is credited, but no talk of a re-stocking fee.  I ordered two of the "surplus" mags from the supplier above and hope that they are in good shape.

Yep...I just broke down and bought two.  It's a bit overkill as I had five mags already, but the combination of price and the mag pouch made me bite.  I'll probably never carry the CZ 83, but the mag holders will come in handy for other guns.

They appear to be well built as I bought two from Centerfire Systems with I purchased my CZ 83 and they will work...just not always well enough to trust them for times when they absolutely, positively have to perform.  OK for range time...IMO.  The two that I ordered from CDNN I returned unused after reading about them here and also from my experience with the first two.

My vz 82 couldn't go more than 3-4 rounds without a misfeed using the "CZ mfg" garbage mags. Has never failed with crossed swords surplus magazines or real CZ-UB 82/83 magazines.

This is important to me since I do use the vz 82 for CCW.

I use one of my 82's for carry, and if I can't get a mag to run consistently, it's junk to me. I've been lucky to only have bought the crossed swords mags. I had one that would not feed the last round sometimes, the lips were too wide. Even after I fixed it, it wasn't a carry mag. If you have to take a new mag and fix it to run, will you ever trust it? I won't. In the heat of the moment I want to know for sure that my rig is as good as possible. Listen to what people have to say about what works and what doesn't. Then when you step out, you've done all you can do. Enjoy

their so-called "factory" magazines are the "cz mfg" garbage referred to in this and many other threads.

Buy real CZ-UB (from the CZ-USA webstore) or crossed-swords marked mil surp mags. The rest are unreliable junk.

Yeah just to reiterate I returned 2 of the CDNN mags today, they had to be pried out of the pistol.  Probably could have worked them over to function but why?  The return person at CDNN denied any previous returns/issues with mags.  I bet.

Midway and Apex Gun Parts appear to have genuine surplus mags, at around $24.

Look for a seam down the back of the mag if there's a picture. If there is one, go elsewhere.

See my other post.  APEX has real Military CZ82 mags with crossed swords and no seam for $24.95.  My three were new old stock 99+% finish.  I had three and now have six - all with cross swords stamp..

Wow, that's even better.  A few years ago, they were $35 to $40 each if you could find them.

I would like to get another magazine for my CZ82, I notice the last post on this was in March/2020, any updates?? I have checked out all the previous recommendations & they are All out of stock.  As per recommendations, I only want an original surplus (like my original: crossed swords, indentations on the sides, no seam on the front side, etc.).  Any new suppliers?

I haven't seen any new offerings for either the real surplus mags or the CZ-UB factory mags, just the cheap crappy "cz mfg" ones

GunBroker might be worth checking

Try haunting the larger gun shows. There may be a few there, I'm told.
