Title: CZ vz27 early version
Post by: rudolf3577 on July 13, 2018, 07:03:41 AM
I recently acquired a vz27 with what I think are very low serial numbers 57786; it also has a stamping of: J*27 on. - January 1927? The same serial number is on the barrel.  What is interesting is that the lugs on the barrel are more like a Mauser 1910 than the later three grove kind. It also has a wooden one pice grip that is totally intact. Besides needing a main spring the pistol is tottaly functional.

What I would like to know is, what year was this made in any any other information anyone can provide. I have pictures but do not know how to upload them on this site.

I'll check your information against my books after I get home tonight.

Easiest way to post photos is with Tapatalk from your IOS or Android phone.

An alternate that I used after Tapatalk was denigrated from the Windows phone platform: https://postimages.org/

Check the welcome area pinned messages for directions on how to post photos--especially resizing.

The 'J lion 27' is the acceptance mark of Czech military, J for office, 27 for year of acceptance.
Reference, Know Your Czechoslovakian Pistols, pg 96.

There's some information here that may also be useful.

What other markings are on it?

On the German CZ site none of the images match. It was the wooden grip and is most defenetly a early version.
The only other marking on it is a ? 4J 47 ? on the front bottom of the grip.
