Title: New to the forum, and to the P-07
Post by: lou57 on September 18, 2018, 10:59:06 PM
After eyeballing a P-07 for awhile, I finally pulled the trigger. Two trips to the range and a couple hundred rounds later, I think it might be my second favorite gun right behind my VP-9. So far, my only complaint would be the trigger. For my liken, the trigger breaks to far back. I'm curious to find out if anyone else shares that opinion. Would CGW or CZ custom be able to change the position of the break?  If so, I would appreciate any feedback from someone who had it done.

I don't shoot anything but da/sa pistols  so I don't find the trigger break an issue at all. I'm not sure you can do much to move the break out any significant amount but I'd call CGW and ask them.

The P07 is a fine gun albeit the trigger has a few issues, none of which are a gamestopper.  Unless you have really long fingers, break should be OK - most DA guns break further back.  Overtravel can be a problem, but the P07 is usually good in this department.

My complaint on the P series trigger is stacking and grittiness - many guns coming out have very gritty triggers that are not uniform throughout their pull.  However, polishing and lots of rounds make it a very good trigger along with CGW.

Yes, I had the short trigger reach concern when I got my P-09 and P-07 pistols.  The way I fixed it is a bit unorthodox but effective and ugly.  I've caught hell from purists claiming I defaced my gun.  I added Sugru to the sides and back of the grip, and JB Weld to the trigger.  I shot bullseye matches for two years with the P-09 and won most of the matches and even shot the P-07 in one match and won it.   With my ugly, defaced, plastic guns.  With perfect-for-me trigger finger placement.

Here is a video illustrating the intent of the modifications

Joe has a good point for those with long fingers.  But, the P07 is better than say, the SP2022.

Maybe CGW could work up a custom trigger for longer reach.  Not hard.  Because the backstrap does not fill in for the web, it does make it short for some folks.

I also think the P07 is a bit thin in the grip - likely why the P10 is not so thin.

But I've seen folks with big hands not complain also (Mrgunsngear, Hicock45).  Joe does some amazing accuracy work, and thus needs the optimum  reach for proper break.

I do own, and have own several SA/DA and didn't have that issue. I think with the undercut in the frame under the slide shortens my reach. I'm 6'5" and do have long fingers so that adds to the problem. I appreciate the suggestion and video, but I think I would like to keep the integrity of the gun. I just wanted to check in here first before I called  CGW.

This is my one and only issue with the P07. If CZ made the P07 with the P10C grip, it would be the perfect pistol, imo.

For the longer fingered folks, the rubber wraps for grips help to fill them out and put the hand further back. The ones with the upper web should work well.

CZ could easily design a backstap with .10 inch fill above the line.  Like the MP or p99.
