Hello again everyone,
I went to a somewhat local gun show over the weekend just to look around. Noticed a very nice 452 there and was asking the vendor about it. I hit the mag release lever/tab and the mag popped out nicely about a quarter of an inch as though it was spring loaded. When the mag release is pushed on my Model 2, nothing happens. In fact, I have to dig my fingertips under the magazine butt plate (?) and tug pretty hard to get it to come out.
Not knowing enough about guns yet to want to disassemble anything I'm looking for advice on maybe places to look for dirt or any other ideas. Are the magazines or their receptacles spring loaded and possibly worn out or damaged?
One thing I did notice is that when the magazine is out, if you look into the metal magazine receptacle (mag well?), the sidewall doesn't line up flush with the edge of the trigger guard. Like they are offset by about 1/16 if an inch. Could this misalignment be causing the magazine to be under some kind of side tension? Tight on one side of the trigger guard and on the opposite side of the receptacle?
The magazine is much newer than the gun. Gun is from 1969 and the magazine is almost new. Maybe it just needs breaking in or wearing down? After seeing how easily the magazine on the newer (not brand new) 452 at the gun show released I am still thinking there might be a problem. But what do I know? I'm way to green to have a clue yet.

Good morning Hit_man. It doesn't to be "much" out of alignment. The Mag Well is held in place by two crews on the bottom of the receiver. Maybe loosen each screw just enough to allow movement and possibly re-align the well. Should be a relatively easy task.
Note, the rear screw apparently holds the Ejector in place. My experience has been to leave the Bolt in and closed while doing anything with the Well. This more or less will hold the Ejector in place while you're doing the adjustment. Elsewhere I did read about one fellow that had a hard time figuring out how to get the Ejector back properly in place after completely disassembling the action.

It might be worthwhile to remove the action from the stock, and see if the mag well will move on the mounting screws enough to clear the bottom metal without creating feeding issues. It's also possible that the action is not straight in the stock. Is the barrel closer to the stock on one side?
You should get yourself a torque screwdriver, with gunsmithing bits, for re-tightening the stock screws.

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but I may have found the problem.
I recently bought a set of aperture sights from a member here and slid them on to see how they looked. Well.....they looked bad. Canted a few degrees to the right. Upon closer inspection I think the barrel is screwed into the receiver too far. (Overclocked ?) My guess is when the previous owner had the barrel threaded it wasn't aligned to the receiver before it was re-installed. The markings on the barrel are straight up and square to the stock, but the top of the dovetails are visibly sloping down and to the right. I believe this is why the mag well showed a lip and the mag hung up so badly. The receiver was sitting canted in the stock.
Now I have to find someone to fix it. Major problem or minor?
