I never really considered a SIG due to the lack of safeties. All those buttons/knobs/levers and I still can't carry it cocked and locked.
Then they came out with that darn M17 with safeties. Striker fired - but with safeties. A SIG with safeties. I don't really care about the sand/dark earth, or whatever color they call it - it's the safeties and cocked and locked.
Then I saw a pistol I thought was a FN 509, but with safeties. Another striker fired pistol with safeties?? Realized it wasn't a 509 but an FNS. Still, safeties. And I noticed the slide is different between the 509 and the FNS. Something about that cut to the upper half of the FNS slide appeals to me. And somewhere along the way I read about the accidental discharge issues with the FNS and that FN had stopped making those pistols. I really like the looks of the FNS-L. But I realize the compact model is the right one to get for a carry pistol. And, I could get either in .40 S&W. Spent some time last night surfing the internet and saw some for $400 to $550, depending on where it was being sold and what model it was. I really don't think the FNS-L will outshoot the P09 9MM (nor would the M17, for that matter).
I was sort of disappointed, sort of still looking at an M17, but then I got a notice in the mail about a gun show this weekend at the Richmond, VA race way/track and thinking about the possibility of running across a CZ75SA in .40 S&W, or a CZ75B in .40 S&W got my attention and the "need" for the SIG or FN pistol just seemed to fade away.
Funny how the possibility of finding the right CZ outweighs the certainty that I could drive up to Cabela's this morning and pick up an M17.

Hiya M1A4ME and thanks for your thread. I suppose ownership would reflect I lean towards cz products and czc to tune some of them. But the product needs to speak for itself. In the Sig line the p210 and the 45cal super target both had thumb safeties,but not striker fired,if thats a preference. My brand loyality let me to purchase the turkish made 712 when needing a 12ga semi,if it wasn't for its performance I never would have found my two m4 benellis.
If you do find the vendor with the 75bSA I hope its condition and final negotiated price get worked out, its an under rated platform. I had one with all the czc mods,and bought another to just run my Kadet kit on, reliable and pleasure to shoot.I believe the factory SA was 500 ish,and I'd paid 950 for the used SA that had about 1000 worth of mods added to the base model.Everyone should own at least two 75bSA's. I haven't shot the M17 but have heard its an excellent platform for what it's meant to do. Good luck.

I still won't give up my CZ's but my 2 P229's,P225 and M11A1 have become fast favorites. I find myself shooting them more these days than anything. As for the M17 I fell into one recently at a better than average price, worked with it for a thousand rounds and sold it for what I paid for it new. Phooey on striker fired pistols.YUK!

I have some experience with the FNS. It is a good pistol overall. The "accidental" discharge thing is very unclear at best. It was a police office that said his service weapon FNS just went off in his holster. Not sure about that. The 509 is a good pistol as well. I have since moved on from both due to handguns that check more boxes of things I want.
As for your need of being able to carry cocked and locked and being interested in Sig, they have SAO (single action only) models. Currently right now I thinkg they are only available in the Legion series. However, there was a non-Legion P226 that was SAO. I saw a used one last year and really thought about getting it, but someone beat me to it.
As for the M17, I have that pistol and it is excellent. The Safety is in the perfect spot and works great for me.

I'm definitely more of a Sig fan boy than any other! There is actually a Japanese version of the P230/232 with a thumb safety as well. The hammer on it is much smaller than typical and works well for concealed carry...though it's just a .380.

Sorry, started another thread on it when I ordered a CZ75B in .40 S&W.
Plan is to convert it to a CZ85 ambidextrous slide release (already had ambidextrous thumb safeties). Put a set of night sights on it. Put a spur hammer on it. Shoot it some to see house it does before worrying about CGW bushing, new barrel, etc.
