Title: Sights for P-01
Post by: JohnN45 on July 11, 2019, 03:27:22 PM
New here and could use some help.

I've had a P-01 as my main carry gun for a while now, and while it's been great out of the box, I'm not happy with the factory sights. I can shoot well with them, but they're just not my preferred style.

I've been looking for sights, but I'm a little confused on the sight heights for this platform. Also seems like some companies say the full-size sights fit the compact, while others say they're different.

Ideally, for this gun, I'd like a black wider than factory 'U' notch rear sight, with a tritium white/red/orange outline front sight. I'm not a big fan of the Novak style sights, so I'd prefer something straight like the factory, but I'll deal if that's not available. If anyone knows of something like that, let me know.

Thanks in advance,

John

I had Meprolight Tru Dot night sights put on my standard P-01. Been very pleased with them...actually shot that gun at the range this morning.

Hiya JohnN45 and thanks for the thread. Aftermarket is all about the preference and given a particular amount of extra cash to invest you can have it all. Consider that the gun is great out of the box,and you shoot well with the factory ones. most any investment from here on out you won't recover in resale value so consider a budget to stay under. Could turn out you won't like the tritium as much as the factory and you are out the money and back to square one. Some nail polish can provide the front sight with enough relief to see it better. Even machining a groove along the front can make it pick up light in dim conditions serving as a good night sight. Having the slide cut for Novak opens the door to many more possibilities tho.sounds like you have a great gun and hope you find a project that you will be happy with and on a budget. Be well.

Thanks for the response. I have front tritium/rear plain sights on two other guns, and like them. Not too worried regarding resale aspect, but it's not as though I want to dump a ton of money into the sights if I don't have to. Is there any rear plain blacked out notch sight that would work with a meprolight/trijicon/etc. front sight?
