Title: CZ 75 D Compact Slide Jammed and path to upgrade
Post by: CGJung on September 12, 2019, 11:55:54 AM
Hello,

I have a CZ 75 D Compact that I bought several years ago; it was shooting fine until one day it jammed. It went in to my safe and I almost forgot about it. Upon inspection, it turned out the slide jammed at the end of the cycle, pushed up by trigger bar that (I believe) was late or not getting low enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, the trigger bar moves up and to the rear when the trigger is pulled and then when the trigger is release it slides straight forward?

My questions:

1. Is there any adjustment that I can do to fix this problem (bring the trigger bar slightly lower at the end of the cycle). I understand that this mechanism involved several moving parts and this is a well used fire arm. The trigger action is really smooth.

2. What is the path for an upgrade/ways to rejuvenate for this fire arm?

Thank you so much for any response.

A picture would be helpful here.  I'm struggling to see how the triggerbar could jam the slide back?  There is very little contact between the slide and the triggerbar.  I'd wager that the something else is causing the hang up.  Potentially the Firing pin block lever?  Maybe you have the same issue I had with my 40P and the lifter spring is missing?

Or maybe you have a broken slide stop and the slide is jammed to the rear too far?

Post up some pictures.

Cheers,
Toby

The trigger bar prevents the slide to complete the complete cycle. It jammed the slide halfway on its way forward

A tap to the top of the slide will release the jammed

So this gun "jams" and you just put it in the safe and forget about it??? Post some pics. The trigger bar isn't going to lock the slide up. We need to see what position the slide is in and so on. My 75D Compact has never choked in any way in over 14K rnds fired.

The humps in the trigger bar fit up into notches in the bottom of the slide (when the slide is in the fully closed/forward position).  If the slide is not in the right position the trigger bar is forced too low to actuate the sear (maybe the firing pin block, too, but I'm not sure about that one) because the humps are not in those notches.

Looks normal to me. The trigger bar is right where it's supposed to be. I'd give it a good cleaning and lubrication and a new recoil spring and go from there.

With the slide off, can you push down on the triggerbar and does it spring back upward?  Without fully dropping the hammer (with the slide off), how does the DA action feel (option to stick a rag in the hammer notch to catch it)?  Is it still smooth and completes the cycle?

With the barrel and slide stop removed, cycle the slide in the frame and see if there is anything the causes the slide to bind.  How is your slide stop?  Recoil Spring?  How is the fit of the barrel in the slide?  How does the peanut look on the barrel?  With the grips off, how does the main spring look?  Is there anything that would prevent it from fully compressing?  Again more pictures would help.

Cheers,
Toby

Thank you for all the replies. I will take all suggestions and look deeper into how it jammed. Unfortunately, I work every night for the next eight days and have a booked weekend. I most likely will come back with answers sometime after the next weekend.

Meanwhile, if I'd like to upgrade the springs, what would be your preference/weight?

Thank you

The gun looks stock and if your intent at this point is to just get it operating properly I'd stay with stock springs.
