The new 14" barreled Bren 2 MS in 7.62x39 seems to lack a bayonet lug, or even the step in the barrel to accept one. From both aesthetic and military collector perspectives, this is disappointing. I hope CZ will consider selling them in the future with the military barrels.

I believe the reason is that it’s meant to be a civilian less-evil version

At 14" I think the guy will be close enough to just punch in the face.
Then again, when you change from original/design barrel lengths the bayonets don't change, so there could be a fitment issue if the distance from the lug to the muzzle/flash suppressor front end is different.
I know a bayonet on the end of my XM177 clone looks real funny. All of about 3" of blade sticks out past that big old long flash suppressor.

CZ photos show clearly that 11” and 14” Bren 2 pistols do not have a bayonet lug.

What photos? Can you post a link? I can't seem to find a 14" version of the MS on CZ's LE site or in their civilian catalog, just 11" and 9" versions.
Might you be confusing the 11" version for the 14"? My 14" Bren 2S in 5.56 definitely does have a bayo lug. Both the 7.62x39 and 5.56 versions of the 14" Bren 2S have the lugs.
By the look of pictures on gunbroker, the 14" 5.56 Bren 2MS has the lug, only the 7.62x39 version doesn't. Thus my curiosity.

Joshua Chamberlain & the 20th Maine, salute your bayonet lug concerns. ;)

lol. Not a practical concern, I'm just puzzled as to why it's missing from only the 7.62x39 version.
-
Sorry, I misspoke, 9” and 11” photos show no bayonet lugs.
-
Thanks man.
I went ahead and emailed CZ USA and they had no information. They commented that they're just the importer and have no input on line changes.
Maybe there aren't any governments actively showing an interest in the 14" barrel 7.62x39 since the switch to the modular handguard.
-
My guess would be that the barrel diameter is thicker on the 7.62 and they didn’t have the bayonet lugs made for that diameter barrel. That’s just a guess though.

The 14" Bren 2 MS we have here in our shop has a bayonet lug. Where are you hearing/seeing that they don't have bayonet lugs?

Hello Sven ---- what everyone is looking at are pictures on GunBroker right now. There are three actual photos (not stock photos) of 14" BREN 2MS that don't have the bayonet lugs on them.

It appears only the 14" 7.62x39 MS version's lack the lugs. There are pics of the 14" 5.56 MS that do have them.

Wow, crazy.
Seems like the most recent batch of 7.62x39 doesn't have the bayonet lug. Go figure, CZ Czech Republic doing their thing again I guess! ???
