Title: PCR thin grips
Post by: Tahmail on December 15, 2019, 01:14:54 PM
Just picked up a PCR and I like the ergonomics of the palm swell grips but I'm also curious about the thin LOK grips.  Do they feel much thinner than the palm swells or is it hard to tell much difference? The picture of the comparisons looks significant but that doesn't always translate to "feel".

It’s a pretty big difference. I have a few set of the thin bogies and love them. Grip is perfect for humid weather and doesn’t bother my skin at all. Worth a look for sure. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191215/774a4d64f709ed2578475e21e8cd2557.jpg)

Anyone know if the Coolhand grips are as thin as the LOK?  Great prices.

The Cool Hand grips I had were slightly thicker.

To me the only thing a thin as the Bogies are CZ aluminum grips

I really like the factory grips. They are actually my favorite factory grips out of any pistol. However, I replaced them. The trigger reach on my SP-01 Tac and P01 is just a tad far for me. I went with Lok grips first. They are excellent and it is a great company to deal with. I did not keep them though and ended up with the CGW thin grips and love them. I think if I did the CGW RRK to my SP-01 Tac, the shortened trigger reach would allow me to go back to the factory grips and I would in a second.

Definitely a noticeable difference between the factory palm swells. I have the Coolhands on my PCR and love the difference they make.

I loved the original rubber palm grips that came with my PCR, but, they’re to sticky for carry. Having large hands, I took a chance on the LOK Matrix grips. Very surprised at how much I like them. I don’t wear an undershirt and these grips are easy on my skin.Matrix is my go to for carry now.

I went with the Cool Hand carbon fiber grips. I like them a lot. Easy on the skin and a surprisingly good grip.

Here's a pic with the Cool Hand Diamond Cut SPC-PN grips installed on the PCR. Grip width is now 1.14"

I love my Matrix grips as well. The OEM rubber grips were a total no-go. After Cajun Gun Works did their work on the PCR, it is my premier EDC.

How aggressive are those?  Those look like they could go from bother your skin, to perfect.

I don't find them particularly aggressive, esp. in comparison to something like the Hogue Piranha grips or LOK Bogies. But I usually wear an undershirt.

Anyone else use other manufacturers thin grips?  Really leaning towards aluminum grips but would appreciate hearing more reviews from people who own and tested them.  How cool do they stay if used mainly outdoors and for range training?

Can others post their pictures of the make and model that worked best for them?  Thank you in advance!

I have more than 1 CZ and I have LOK grips, cool hand grips, a set of Cajun grips, and aluminum CZ grips.

First off I cant believe anyone really likes the factory grips....but to each their own. I have at least 10 sets in my drawer just collecting dust.
The LOK grips are aggressive and awesome. They grab your hand back when you grab your gun. What a grip should do in my humble opinion. Big LOK fan mostly boogies they are great.
The cool hand grips I got are very very nice and for the money very good grips. The ones pictures are not to aggressive they are nicely crafted and will make most folks very happy.
The CGW grips are as nice as the Cool Hand grips but about 30 bucks more.  The Aluminum grips are beautiful and they are effective. They make my gun look awesome and they work!

The thing about grips is they are relatively inexpensive. Try one if you like it keep it if not no big deal. If you buy them and do not like them you can get your money back selling them here. Maybe not 100% but close enough that it doesn't really matter. The best part is you get to see what you like instead of relying on others opinions. Well that's my opinion so take it with a grain of salt.If 50 bucks is a big deal and you want grips start with Cool hands they are the cheapest, very nice and you can get your money back on the site for them. LOKs are more expensive and you normally recoup 85-90% of your initial outlay so no big loss. CGW grips are too expensive in my opinion for what you get but not in most peoples opinion so they are almost a sure bet to sell good here on this site, pick one buy them try them out. over thinking your grip choice will make you crazy, just go for it. worse case senerio you are out 50 bucks.

I had a custom set of LOK’s in thin checkered on my P-01 Omega and loved’em. Didn’t care for the factory rubber grips.

The LOK slim grips ate great. I have large hands and still thought the factory were too large. I went with the Slim Matrix grips and they totally changed the feel/grip for the better.

I ended up with thin Matrix grips on my PCR.  If you are curious about how the thin grips feel / fit, simply remove your stock rubbers and hold the gun in your hand.  This will give you an accurate impression of the new grip width.  My PCR likes the thin grips, but my steel framed models are better balanced and handled with the stock grips, in my opinion which may differ from yours.

i just bought a set of tactical diamond vz grips for my new p-01. have the same grip on my p-01 for 8 yrs and like them. i like the flat non palm swell and bought the same for my new sp-01. however they did require some fitting as they did not tighten down to the frame correctly.

I am a computer monkey / engineer by day so my soft hands do not enjoy the more abrasive grip textures.  However the diamond patterns do seems like they offer good feel and contact without being overly aggressive.  The CZ custom thin aluminum on my SP were the full checkered variety.  It was a bit too much for me, because the checkering was deeply machined into the grip.  It is the Target II model just so you know what I am talking about.

With regard to the Lok grips, the black wasn't as deeply black as I had anticipated, more of a dark charcoal.  I read somewhere to simply apply some gun oil to the grips to darken them and that absolutely worked.  They now are semi glossy and match the frame poly coat on the PCR, which is more of a matte finish than the flat finish on my P-01.  My P-01 definitely has a different finish than the PCR which is surprising to me.

Have a set of GUUUN thin ops for my SP-01. Can’t compare to LOK or Cool Hand as the Guuun’s are the only G10 grips I’ve tried. But they look like the others, are thinner than the OEM rubber grips, and feel good in hand. A bit cheaper too!
