Title: 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries
Post by: okie21 on December 23, 2019, 11:23:39 AM
Please get on board. Gun Owners of America is pushing in every county in every state in the US to declare Second Amendment Sanctuary Ordinances (SASO's). There is an online petition you can sign. There are also petitions being circulated by GOA members. We're hitting up gun shops and clubs here in PA to get as many signatures as we can. Virginia should be a wake up call to the rest of us.

I support SASO's (the county I reside in is a sanctuary county FWIW) but I'm tired of being swamped with spam every time I support a cause with online petitions.  The data base gets sold to other organizations and vendors - convince me this will NOT be sold or distributed and I'll sign up.   :-\

I asked Val Finell, who heads Pennsylvania's chapter of GOA. He says GOA will not share your info with anyone. You will get emails from GOA, though.

Thanks for following up Okie21 - I'll sign up.  I don't mind the info coming from GOA.

Take a look at the VCDL web page.  Virginia Citizens Defense League.  They have been out front leading and at the back pushing this effort along in VA for a couple months now (since the dims/libs/progs/socialist won a majority in the VA state legislature and prefiled gun control laws that will make California and New York look like a gun owners heaven).

https://www.vcdl.org/

In the last few weeks they've been the driving force - along with the people of the counties/cities/towns in over 110 counties/cities/towns declaring themselves either 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries or Constitutional Counties.  It's getting pretty warm here in VA.

Some of the bills prefiled would make assault weapons illegal to own - no grandfathering, just get rid of them or turn them in.

Make it illegal for you to train your children to fire guns, hunt with guns, clean them, work on them, etc., etc., etc.

Make it illegal to have a get together with friends where you do innocuous stuff like have a cook out and then shoot guns at targets.

It goes on and on.

When some of the county Sheriffs said they would not enforce such laws in their counties the dims/libs/progs/socialist in office and preparing to take office declared they would have the county Sheriffs arrested/removed from their positions and arrest/detain any other county officials that participated in such protests of the new laws they hope to pass.  They've discussed bringing in the VA National Guard to enforce these proposed laws in the small rural cities/towns and counties.  They've threatened to cut off the usual state funding of Law Enforcement Departments, schools, road repairs, etc. in the counties that declare themselves  2nd Amendment Sanctuaries.

The talk/threats are getting louder and harsher.

The work goes on in those counties, towns, and cities that have not declared (2nd Amendment Sanctuaries or not) yet and more Board of Supervisors meetings are scheduled.  Some previous BoS meetings in some counties/cites have drawn more than 1,500 2nd Amendment supporters.  One was reported to have 3,000 supporters show up.  People are pissed off right now.

The VCDL typically sponsors a Lobby Day meeting with the state legislators each year in mid January to allow people to talk directly to their state legislators in the admin/office building those folks work in.  This year other groups are advocating showing up in full gear/weapons out in front of the building (sort of the center of Richmond, VA) to give the dims/libs/progs/socialist an idea of what a few thousand armed and upset VA citizens look like when their standing/shouting/looking at you from rock throwing distance.  That is not a VCDL thing, that's just a bunch of people who feel they are being threatened by their government.

Anyway, take a look at the VCDL web page for reports on what has happened.  A look at what is planned for the Lobby Day.  And news of developments as they occur that you will not see in the MSM.

Yes, I'm a fairly new VCDL member (joined last year at a gun show).

And yes, wouldn't it be great if this spread to all the states?

Palmetto State Armory is helping out the VCDL and the Virginia 2nd Amendment Sanctuary efforts by making/selling a VA state seal (modified) AR15 lower receiver.  $10 from the cost of each one is being donated to the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL).

On arfcom one of the VCDL guys says he heard the amount donated had reached $25,000 a couple days ago.

Here's one of the three I bought.  By modified I mean she's got her foot on old blackface Northam's chest and holding an AR15 in one hand instead of a sword.  You can see his tie strung out away from his neck.

It is bad, very bad in Virginia. The VCDL is doing Herculean work on getting the people motivated, ad what is so incredibly frustrating is 1) where were they on election day and 2), what the heck happened with the VA GOP that they let several districts just flop by letting gun grabbers run unopposed. I second the grabbing a VCDL branded lower from PSA - they are a great outfit and I have some of their very fine rifles. Buy with confidence.

The dims/libs/progs/socialists have a big population in the northern part of the state, over on the coast around Virginia Beach and the bigger cities.  Those load up the state legislature with dim/lib/prog/socialist candidates.  They also were allowed, this year, to redistrict VA and move more dim/lib/prog/socialist voters into traditionally republican voting areas and that further eroded the ability of the people out in the country to get the representation they wanted/needed in Richmond.  And then there's the Soros and Bloomberg money that comes in from out of state to support the gun grabbing candidates, not just for the state legislature but also for county commonwealth attorneys, the governor, lt. governor and state attorney general (all three count on those sources for money and then use that money to buy other candidates support).

And of course there is the republican party here in VA.  No one is ever happy with another republican candidate.  Rather than find reasons to get behind the same guy they look for reasons to not vote for "that guy."

Map of VA showing the towns/cities/counties who have voted to become either 2nd Amendment Sanctuaries or Constitutional Counties (support the whole US Constitution).  Latest VCDL e-mail says we're up to about 114 now.

Can't seem to get this map to show up here.  I'll take another look at things.

And the latest e-mail from the VCDL was a link to the a joint statement from the VCDL and GOA to the dim/lib/prog/socialists in the VA government (and the republicans, too).

Thanks for posting Okie. We are only one or two election cycles from being the next Virginia here in PA.  In Chester County our Sheriff has been a Republican for decades. Come January this will no longer be the case. It’s only a matter of time before the votes swing the other way in Harrisburg.

Link to the map legend so we can make more sense of the map?

My county in the Florida panhandle approved such resolutions earlier this month, though it's called a "Second Amendment Safe Haven".

According to Okaloosa Commissioner Graham Fountain, the choice of name was to differentiate the initiative from sanctuary cities, which he added “allow illegal aliens to be protected.”

I sent my cousin in Virginia a message to use - STAY2AVA. We will need one for us - STAY2APA.

Virginia is bad. Anyone heading to the rally to support the VCDL? A few of us from Lancaster Co. are heading down.

Almost no reporting at all on the big networks - and we know why - about VA.

Please get on your state/local/favorite forums and let folks know what is going on.  If you provide a link to the VCDL's web page it might help folks with ideas/inspiration to get things moving in other states.

https://vcdl.org/

In case you haven't seen the joint GOA/VCDL response to the dim/lip/prog/socialist VA attorney general and governor's statements about the proposed new anti 2nd Amendment gun laws having to be enforced, here it is.  They did a heck of a job digging up the garbage those guys have tossed out over the years to explain why they didn't have to follow state laws.

The statements made by these foolish morons can be infuriating. They state that counties cannot ignore state law, yet they ignore our Constitution they are sworn to uphold? They lied when they took their oath of office demonstrated by their own actions. The arrogance displayed is quite disturbing. I am doing my best to keep this G rated.

I'll read the GOA/VCDL response later. I mailed out the VCDL site to all my shooting buddies. I know they are aware. I know they are peeved.

Thanks for the information.
