Title: New PCR...holy cow!
Post by: lendringser on February 17, 2003, 05:21:15 PM
This is starting to get expensive.

I picked up my first CZ yesterday, a new 75BD.  I was so pleased with the gun's ergonomics and its performance that I returned to the store today and picked up their only other CZ on the shelf, a new 75 Compact PCR.

This thing is nothing short of awesome.  Light, slick action, great trigger, and exceptionally well balanced.  The fact that it can use my 75BD 15-rounders is just a cool bonus.  It even fits my Mitch Rosen ARG holster like a glove, even though that one's made for a S&W .40 auto.

That's two new CZs in two days.  Should I be worried?

My only gripe with the PCR are the sticky rubber grip panels.  I like the smooth plastic on the 75BD better.  Does anyone offer good replacement grips for the PCR, and does it have the same grips as the regular 75 Compact?

Yes it will take the same grips as the compact and if you want a plastic pair I think I have some laying around here that I'll never again use.  But if you want a really sweet set of grips check out the ones made by Hakan.  Great grips and a great guy to deal with.

As to your CZ problem, I have this same problem only it applies to firearms in general. I just love messing with the darn things and sometimes get a little carried away on the purchasing end of things.

I'm a huge fan of the PCR.  I had the compact also and sold it to one of my kids.  It too was a nice pistol but the PCR has a better trigger and just handles better for me.  Hope you enjoy yours.

Hey... your experience sounds much like mine!! I bought a 75BD, and within a few months owned a PCR also! (I had gone in the store looking for a 97B or a 75B in .40.... the PCR was there and I fell instantly in love with it!)

As for your rubber grips, I personally like them, but if it's the "tackyness" that bothers you, you could try Armor-All or spray silicone. That would leave them soft to help in comfort, but they wouldn't be so sticky.

That is of course assuming you didn't mean the OTHER definition of "tacky".... in that case only replacement would help!! :rollin

I just bought a PCR about a week ago, thinking that in a year I might try a P01 or just go get ....drum roll please.......another PCR!!!  I love the sticky rubber grips.  Great for a sure fire grip on the gun.  I just got done showing my PCR to some of my Co-workers at my dept.  and they love it.  One of the guys loves H&Ks and his exact words were "I think I finally found the perfect concealment gun".  HAHA...he already has and H&K .40 Compact, but I wouldn't trade my PCR for it anyway.  He liked the slimness of the gun, I like the grip and trigger, considered selling my Sig 239 to get another, but I just bought the stupid thing 3 weeks ago.  I think I'll just hang onto it.  Don't want to go crazy or anything, but dang it...come a week from now I'm gonna get a 40B.:D

I just bought my pcr and I am amazed at this piece of work.  I was looking for a concealed carry piece, and this gun fits the bill perfectly.  It is an accurate and well made firearm, and I am glad I came to this site before I made my choice.  I have a match grade 1911, which used to be my favorite pistol, but this pcr is making a case for itself very quickly.  No other gun in this price range can boast the accuracy and handling of this gun.  Best investment I have made in a long time.  Thanks for the helpful posts!

This is ridiculous...here I was just minding my own business,
surfing around and visiting the different CZ clubs and  being
happy with my CZ75B and 75BD that I just purchased in the
last month (I'm new to guns), WHAM!!! you guys infected
me with the PCR bug. I just went to the Springfield Gun Show
today and resisted buying a 85B and there was a second CZ
gun there that was a compact but I can't remember if it was
the 75 Compact or  the PCR Compact.  Now, because of this
infection, I may have to drive back to Springfield Sunday and
find out what it was.  I don't remember if it was used or new.
Could you give me an estimate on what a good price is for
both (assuming it is in excellent shape used)?

:lol :eek :lol :rollin :rollin :lol :eek :lol

Man...do I know how you all feel. ;)   I personally love the gun and I am growing fond of the s/a also.  Both are excellent shooters....
Enjoy them, we kept them in production by bitching about them being discontinued..thats how good the gun is alot of us.
Best CCW CZ has made IMO...but Im just a little biased....:rolleyes

Excellent shape used should ding your wallet for 360-400, I can find them new in town for 428-499, and J&G sells them for 419 NIB. Happy hunting.
