Title: slide lock back
Post by: CZNE on December 16, 2002, 01:44:23 PM
I posted this on gunsmithing but also wanted to check with some who may not go there.  I've got some slidelock problems on my PCR.  Started out that I was sure it was ammo related but now am not so sure.  I filed a little metal off the back of the stop because the tolerances there look very tight and I'll see what that does.  Anyone had problems with the slidelock spring in a pcr?

I had the same trouble with my PCR. I took a file, then stone to the offending corner of the slide stop. I didn't take much metal off. Last week I fired 65 rounds at the range without a stoppage. I even rapped the front of the mag against my hand to seat the cartridges out to where they might cause trouble. 5 of the cartridges were hollow points which are longer than FMJ's. They all worked ok. The empty magazine still locks the slide back, so that part works ok. Now, if I could get it to group like my CZ75B, I would be happy. Have to practice more.

I've taken a little metal off, now I have to go to the range for a test session.  I can always take a little more off.

I shot the other day and was disappointed in my groups with the PCR.  I have the same problems with my compact so I think it has to do with the short sight radius of the weapons.  My 1911 fullsize is much easier for me to get a great group with and until I get the lockback problem figured out the 1911 is what I'll keep close at hand for defense.

The problem sounds like it being taken care of....if you cant get it to stop with metal coming off of the slide lock..you have mag problems...usually the follower is bogus.

Shoot well

Shot a lot of rounds this past weekend and I had a couple of slide lock backs.  Had the file with me and took a little more off each time, presently it seems to be working but I think I need to do some more extensive testing.  I love to shoot that gun.
