Title: Fed HST 124 grain +P ammo out of my Scorpion pistol
Post by: tire iron on September 29, 2017, 08:28:18 PM
Thought I would share the velocity I am getting with FED HST 124 grain +P ammo out of my CZ Scorpion pistol:

1434
1419
1409
1415
1408
1404
1410
1374  :o
1430
1438

Avg = 1414 O0  That is duplicating .357 magnum level performance.

5 shot groups of just under 3/4" at 25 yards off a sandbag rest with me sitting down.

cheers

That's 400fps faster then what that bullet was design for.  it will most likely over expand and under perform.

I have a friend that shoots hogs with this load out of a AR 9mm carbine with 8" barrel - and he report is that these rounds work very well. He likes the +P because it extends the range at which he can reliably put the critters down.  Also - this same Fed HST 124 grain +P load is 1200 fps out of my G17 - so the Scorpion is only 200 fps faster - not 400 fps.  Your point is well taken though, by pushing a bullet faster than it is designed (or slower) can cause weird things to happen, like either too fast or too much expansion (too little penetration) or little or no expansion (small wound channel).
