Title: SKU# 99041 - Steel compact P01? Looks like 99021
Post by: Mccian on December 17, 2017, 04:08:49 PM
Perhaps somebody is able to give a description of this pistol? Looks just like the 99021, safety, upswept tail, steel, don’t know it it’s an ambi though.....saw one on gunbroker, maybe was a typo.

Since a search of CZ 99041 only comes up with the Gunbroker listing,  I am sure it is a typo.

Well hopefully it is a typo and turns out to be a 99021, that being the case, I’ll be the happy recipient.

Sometimes there's a one digit difference in the numbers to differentiate between the model with 14 round magazines vs. the model with 10 round magazines.  But that ad says "14 round magazines".

So, who knows.

I’ve noticed that the 10 round versions are usually the same SKU. Except they begin with 0 instead of 9

So there were 2 of these on GB last night.  Only 1 left – the auction w/ no reserve and no BIN.  I called TechNetArmory this morning, the seller of the other 99041 on GB.  He told me that this pistol does, in fact, have ambi-safeties, as seen by the pics in the existing auction.  He went ahead and told me that this was an extremely small batch of SP01 compacts that was imported by the distributor (CZ-USA I guess); a much small batch than the 99021.  That's all he could/would tell me.  He also said that about 50 people have called him regarding the 99021/41 comparison, needing more info.  So, I'm assuming some of you already know of what I just shared. :)

Looking at the pics, it looks like CZ had to use a different model # b/c the slide reads "CZ 75 P-01", not "CZ 75 Compact", AKA "SP-01 Compact".  So this is technically a steel frame P-01 w/ ambi-safeties rather than a SP-01 Compact.  Same difference.

Ideally yes, but I’d take a non ambi one any day. I feel so teased with this and the 99021.

Just make an all steel, decocker compact, CZ!!

Sounds like “European” ones have slipped into the States. Saw one that was in the CZUB factory store earlier this year with the P-01 mark. It’s not part of the standard lineup over there. They do not use the same SKU numbering as CZ-USA. It would be sort of a twist in the marketing of the compacts where the P-01 marked slides were originally established as a US market name during the beginning of the alloy D compact series.

Well, the 99021 was imported in limited numbers.  Those that don’t mind, or even prefer, a manual safety should eat these up quick. I’d say the only thing holding anyone back is the confusion behind what exactly this model is and why there’s no mainstream information on the web. Nonetheless, it’s a steel frame compact CZ. I’m gonna try and snatch one up. Who knows when they’ll be another release?!

It looks identical to 99021 but I'm not totally sure the beavertail is the same. From the pictures it is hard for me to pic out the nuances. If it is a little different the grip under cuts still look to be the same. The may have seen the good sales of that first batch and made more, but I can't find any others online with the Google. Placed a bid to us up and see if I could meet the reserve but no go.

Can't wait for you to get it and post pics. I may have some funny questions to see if there are any subtle changes from the SP-01 Compact batch of 99021.

The beaver tail looks slightly thinner on the GB offering but it could just be the camera angle. It hasn’t been offered at the store since this sighting. FWIW, the SN difference is about 60k between the two. Obviously, they were more focused on the P-10C this year.

Just happened to check GB..... there is a 99041 listed by ODGunshop, no BIN, with quite a few pics and a decent description, from those pics, the slide does indeed have P-01 stamped on it! Same as what Psyop posted earlier.......TechNetArmory must have used a generic pic when listing my purchase. Friday will know for sure.

Seems like a picture of a 99021.  I'm holding a 99041 and it clearly says P-01 on the side of slide.  But other than the signage, the 99041 looks identical.

I saw the ad on GB from OD gun shop in Indiana (https://www.gunbroker.com/item/730524468) and have them a call. He said it’s a small batch for now but it’s def 99041 And has pics of it reading “P-01”.

Interesting piece, but I already have a 99021 and can’t justify this. Especially bc the vast VAST majority of ppl have no clue these are unicorns. Hell I can’t tell you how many ppl I’ve seen on other forums say they had i idea the 99021 was anything special while they owned one...

Maybe CZ picked up on all the "hype" on the earlier version and decided to go ahead and add a compact version of the SP01 to their sales roster.

Regular traditional compact sights, but front serrations : (
Wonder if it has chamber loaded indicator (yuckie)
Rail...eh.
If even the above described yuckie slide is included, Id pick one up if the whole gun was in stainless!
Beavertail does look good though IMO compared to the traditional all steel compact.

I think someone was pushing it up to hit the reserve. I tried to do so and bid @ $500 but didn't care to push it higher. The reserve is met, so we'll see if this is really a bidding war or curiosity. I'm sure more are in the pipe so I hope no one reading this bids this thing crazy high out of excitement or desperation and over pays thinking this is really really rare 1 of a kind.

I pushed it up to see what the reserve was set at. The shop where the gun is located is 5 minutes from my driveway. Went by there to see if they would deal with me but they said it was on gunbroker only. I did get to handle it. Pretty much a SP01 compact with the P01 rollmark. I would be willing to pay the $650 for it. A new P01 around here goes for about $630. It is definitely a little tank like the SP01 compact, which I already have. Wouldn't hurt to have 2 laying around!!

At the beginning of the week, they have 5 of these guys.  They said they will be getting more, they surprisingly regularly get good CZ stuff, like they showed me a CZ75 compact Shadowline which I've never seen NIB anywhere else.  I should've gotten that one......

Hi everyone,

So, I’m totally new to this forum, but thought I’d get this post in to let you all know I just unwittingly bought one of thes “rare”? Steel framed P-01s. Went to the LGS thinking they had a regular alloy framed P-01 for sale, which is a rare enough commodity that I figured I needed to jump on it. When I arrived, first thing I noticed was it had a manual safety... The shop mentioned that CZUSA offered them either the decocker model or this manual safety model.

Ok, odd I thought. I would prefer the decocker, but I’m cool with the safety. Felt heavy also, was still thinking it was the alloy frame. Got home, cleaned it, noticed the grip did not have front or back side serrations. Odd again.

Started doing some googling to find out about this P-01 variation and immediately happened upon that monster SP-01 Compact thread. Mine didn’t say “Compact” on the side. It wasn’t until I searched the SKU 99041, that I found this thread. I checked the test shot sheet, and it states it was tested on June 27, 2017 and has  “17” and “CIP N” roll marks, with the Czech Proof House “stylized lion” roll mark.

Needless to say, I’m thrilled to have happened upon a full steel framed P-01. I love shooting my brother’s SP-01, so I’m looking forward to hitting the range, which won’t be for while due to the holidays.

I look forward to hearing the story behind this batch of P-01s. If I were to guess, CZUB may have authorized a batch of the steel framed P-01s based off the interest and good-selling small batch of SP-01 compacts that hit the market a year ago. Possibly, CZ is establishing a true CZ SP-01 Compact model that will make it into the catalog. Who knows?

Cheers!

Welcome aboard and what a funny find and way to end up on the forum! Can't wait for any pics and a range report. All the mods discussed on the SP-01 Compact should stand true for these. If you could snap some various photos of the beavertail area that is one of the spots I'm wondering if they changed on these. Enjoy your pistol and let us know if you have any questions or need any help.

Thanks! First impressions for me, not being an expert on DA/SA triggers, is that this one is not amazing, but still very good. A slow pull of the SA has a long but light take up, a couple of jitters then a good, somewhat crisp break. A quick pull is much crisper. The DA pull is long and heavy as expected, but the half-cock detente is very noticeable in the takeup.

Not sure if that’s typical of new CZ 75s but may be food for thought.

Thank you sir! That looks like the same beavertail as the SP-01 Compact!

With the SP-01 Compacts I worked on the SA was "grittier" than most CZ's I've handled. There are some hammers you can get that are much better or you can polish the hammer hooks. CZ Custom sells a Shadow hammer that is cheaper than the CZC Competition and CGW Race Hammers. It's not as short or crisp but a nice alternative. A few springs and some polishing go a long way on the DA pull. I've got tutorial videos that go through everything for manuals safety CZ 75's in the gun smithing sun forum. They're in the stickies. I also did a test on the impact of upgrades and polishing. I'll just snag the links to make it easier.

I bought two of the "SP01" Compacts.  One had the nastiest trigger of any CZ I've bought so far.  Terrible.  Gritty, draggy, jerky and worse.

No idea why something that bad would leave the factory.  But I "fixed" it.  Converted it to SAO with a trigger from CZ USA and CGW race hammer and adjustable sear.

Not sure why these pistols should seem to have worse than normal trigger pulls/feels.  You'd think the same parts go inside them as any other CZ Compact/full size safety B model pistol.

Very cool.  So CZ stumbled upon a gem with a contract that went bad and once found out how great of a marketing guy Scarlet Pistol  ;) is, decided to produce some more frames!  I hope some entity contracts a SS version compact (of any configuration) in the same vein.  Betcha they'd be hot sellers as well!  I wonder if this is evidence that PO1 sales are sluggish--using up excess slides... ???

An all stainless steel version would be worth buying.  As many as I have (CZ's) that would be a good reason to buy yet another one.

New threads popping up here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CZFirearms/comments/7l5rrj/a_new_unicorn_is_born_the_cz_99041_a_steel_framed/

And here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CZFirearms/comments/7lfauw/does_anyone_have_any_info_on_these_steel_framed/

Seems others have stumbled upon this new model
Dang, we have CZ brethren on The Reddit! Hope they enjoy V2 of 99021 with the 99041!

This is pretty cool to think about the fact that there is potentially a production version of our 99021... Look what we helped create!... At least I'd like to think we helped with our response to the failed contract batch.

Yes, quite an active gun community on Reddit. Tons of resources as well as amazing deals posted regularly on the gundeals section here (CZ deals are posted often!): https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/

Finally got some CZ range time in with my son, we put 300 rounds through the little tank.....sweet shooter! Definitely going to change the sights....tiny dots and bifocals don’t mix very well, find my 75 Omegas’ to be easier to acquire. Trigger is pretty heavy, but very smooth, so maybe some spring work in the future. Overall very happy, loving both my CZ’s.....no stoppages of any kind.....couldn’t ask for more.

Any more info on this gun?
Seems like there are no more 99021's to be had and the 99041's are getting scooped up.

No ideas on production #'s where these came from? Mythical contract runs gone bad etc.

I called CZ today. That's what they told me. 50 units only.

They don't plan for more if these but if this type of situation happens again where other markets have issues with orders then they may release them in the US to sell them.

I'm the lucky recipient of the P01 from the GunBroker ad. Was delivered to my FFL today, I went to fondle it a bit this afternoon. I'm a Maryland resident so I'm waiting on my HQL crap to clear.

It does indeed have ambidextrous safeties. The lower is ferrous, tested with a magnet. I didn't see any other markings that would denote the lower as being steel. Is 99041 supposed to be stamped somewhere on the pistol? I didn't spend much time with it, just had to see it myself today. Will look great next to my Sp01 Shadow.

I did email CZUSA on Tuesday about any info I could gather from them. I've yet to receive a reply.

Well a BIG congratulations to you, sir! Looks like a true unicorn. Assuming there were around 1,500 units of 99021s imported, these 99041s would be wayyyyyy rarer. Enjoy it!!

There is another difference.

The 99041 has a silver or uncoated barrel hood and barrel.
The 99021 has a black finished barrel hood and barrel.

other than the P01 rollmark that is.

So has it been verified there were only 50 of the 99041 models imported? I have the 99021 and a local shop has the 99041. Not sure if I wanted to jump on the 99041 if it is not much different than the 99021.

It's the same except the roll mark and the barrel finish.

The email reply from CZUSA regarding my inquiry:

"  Our SKU 99041 was brought over to the US in a quantity of 50 pieces, and here's our item description to assist:

99041   HNDGUN   CZ P-01 STEEL FRAME W/ RAIL AND SAFETY, CAL 9MM LUGER

As you can see, it's our P-01 with the frame being made of steel, rather than aluminum alloy, and it sports a safety rather than a decocker. Please let us know if there's anything else you need along the way.

Thanks!

I actually just purchased a second 99041. One I plan to send to Cajun and the other either for my wife or leaving stock. I'm happy with 2 of 50.

This is stressful.... I want one for the sake of their rarity, but what if they bring over more? That happened with the SP-01 Compact. They brought over 500 and then brought over more for a total of 1,400. Ugh.... And the batch of Shadow Line Compacts showed up and those haven't come to the states since something like 2013! What do do!?!?!?!

I'm in the same boat. Got the 99021 and am sorta wanting this 99041 too. But it's so hard to imagine that only 50 in total will be brought over. Plus they seem to be going for closer to $750+. Not sure I'm in at that price.

If these guns are going for $650 ~ 750 then I am sure that more will be " brought over to the US in a quantity of 50 pieces"  or maybe 100 or 200 pieces.  Look what you started last year Scarlett Pistol ;D. You got a foreign manufacturer to send more models that we want to buy!

Haha I was just a little part of it. All the members that teamed up on that original thread really helped spread the word and get the ball rolling. If I could do us one last favor it would be to tell CZ to make the compacts with the Shadow 2 improved grip. That would just be the final step in compact greatness!!!

Thanks! I switched from Glock to CZ about 9 years ago. I used to shoot club matches with the ex's father, I bought his old done up 17 as my first pistol  After about a year I decided Glock wasn't for me and bought a CZ on a whim. Mostly based upon Aesthetics, but upon review I purchased  the CZ Shadow Custom when I was 22 or so. I've never held nor shot another pistol that I believe stood up to the CZ, so I never purchased another.

I got into rifles not long after, once I attain a Bren, that collection is complete. But the wife (fiance) says that has to wait till after the wedding... But she didn't say anything about pistols... So here we are.

I usually don't try and talk people out of buying guns... but I'll try and introduce some rationale even though I'm not sure it matters. This gun serves really no purpose. It's a brick. But it's awesome.

It's too heavy to carry compared to the P01...it's unique until it comes out again: Example 99021 to 99041

CZ isn't saying this is a limited production run and it'll never be made again. When I spoke to someone at CZ, their messaging was that if there are other markets that don't want guns then they go to the US market by default...so maybe we'll see more. Maybe we won't. It depends.

Within about year we saw it come out again in slightly different form (rollmark).

So we're all talking about a gun that falls into no practical use that has already been introduced twice because another world market didn't want it. We got sloppy seconds.
We're the cause of our own hype, hysteria and price gouging.

...if it helps, if the shadowline hadn't become available, my order for the 99041 would already be placed (assuming they're still there). Maybe you should go for the shadowline......might be a better carry piece?

Carrying is no option for me in NJ. I really think I’m falling for our little echo chamber at the end of the day. I’ve seen many posts on other forums where ppl with a 99021 had no clue it was a limited run. And I believe even fewer ppl will appreciate this gun, except the few of us on the forum. I’d almost rather save the $700 towards 2 or 3 surplus 75s and refinish them...

I think you might be better off that way. After my last post, I went and picked up my 99021, then my P-01, PCR....then a few Walthers. Yea, the 99021 really is that much heavier and a 99041 wouldn't really help me out. Kudos to those that got 'em.....but I talked myself out of jumping on the 99041 'just because'.

PS You're welcomed to come down here to TX :-)

Weight?  I carry a CZ 75 Compact (the 85 clone) for hours at a time.  In the winter it's in a drop leg holster and in the summer concealed IWB on my right hip.  I never notice the weight as long as I get my belt good and tight.

I think it's something you get used to.  Like deer hunting in the WV mountains with my M1A.  I don't recall every giving it a second thought.  Besides, it was a deer magnet.  I don't think they (the deer) had ever seen one before and they were curious. ;D  No deer (bucks) seen when carrying the Rem. 742, the sporterized M1917 or the 03A4, but that darn M1A drew'em in close.

Really carry it some, I think you'll get used to the weight.  Or make a home defense gun out of it.  Light rail.  You can install night sights.  You can use extended magazines in them (18 or 19 rounds - they just stick out a little bit more.)

Took one of mine to the range today.  The one converted to SAO.

I'm not saying it's impossible... But you literally have the same gun in an alloy frame that is more readily available.

So I don't see why someone would purposefully choose this gun to carry over the many other more reasonable carry choices.

Now I'm not saying it's not cool. It is. I'm just not sure if this warrants all the attention it's getting.

You're probably right, for a carry gun... Those of us that carry it don't do so for any of the standard reasons...

One of my SP-01 Compacts has a red dot and light on it. At some point I am going to shoot it in the Carry Optics Division. Until then it does some concealed carry, but mostly it is in a quick access safe next to my bed. It takes full size mags, so there's no capacity limitation. The red dot eliminates the need for a longer slide for a longer sight radius. The heavy frame tames recoil better than a lot of full size pistols. It is as accurate as a match pistol, as reliable as the best pistols, and fits my hands wonderfully. I guess it has found its place as my preferred HD pistol. Not asking to start a rifle VS handgun for HD conversation. I know, this just gets me to my long gun so no need for that to tangent.

Yea I'm sure I can find a way to work it into a use... But chances are that I have other guns that fit the bill better without modification.

I'm not saying don't buy one... But we literally are getting something another market decided they didn't want; and we put it on a pedestal.

With all that being said : I love the gun but don't use it for anything practical.

Thanks. Yes, the 99021 is a home defense gun for now; perhaps at some point I'll try carrying, so don't want to rule it out. OTOH, just wondering.....what would be nice is if a 99041 would fit to a P-06 top end and work with the .40 magazines.......the extra weigh could make it a heck of a .40 shooter. I have an extra P-06, wonder if it'll work (please tell me it won't...otherwise, gonna have to break the bank).

It should... A member here has his 40 S&W Single Action slide on his SP-01 Compact frame and it runs.

I had a chance to hold a 99041 the other day.  Except for the rollmark, it looks to be the same as my 99021.  I might pick one up this spring as it would be a fantastic SA conversion.  I really like my 99021 and kind of missed the boat by not grabbing a second one.  Anyone remember the Armalite AR24K?  The 99021/99041 is everything that made that pistol great with none of the odd stuff.  I had regretted selling the AR24K until I picked up the 99021 last January.

First we have to see if it's not just the rumor.
Secondly, we know of tops 15 of them sold so far. Maybe that what is coming (if that ever comes) is the rest 35 of them ?

As of today 1/15/2018 per the CZ rep at Ext 334
The following numbers are true and verified by CZ customer service ext 334.
99021 1449 copies imported to US and in circulation.
99041 only 50 copies imported to US and in circulation.

Reason I called is I came upon a 99021 and a 99041 in a pawn shop and wanted to verify the SKU on the box and the serial numbers on the Gun before I bout them.

Fact is they are rare guns and if you can get your hands on one do it. I will never fire these two they will Be show pieces.

Seems like a lot of people on this forum own the 99041... And if only 50 exist then it means that the majority are owned by the people here.

I'm not sure if I buy that.
I personally have seen 2 of them.
I know technet armory just sold 6 about 2 days ago. That accounts for 8 of them.

42 are outstanding and I'm pretty sure there are at least 20 people who have chimed in that they own them.

Alan,

Our SKU 99041 was brought over to the US in a quantity of 50 pieces, and here's our item description to assist:

99041   HNDGUN   CZ P-01 STEEL FRAME W/ RAIL AND SAFETY, CAL 9MM LUGER

As you can see, it's our P-01 with the frame being made of steel, rather than aluminum alloy, and it sports a safety rather than a decocker. Please let us know if there's anything else you need along the way.

Thanks,

Dereck

Alan,

SKU 99021 was a limited import for the US, and was brought over to help meet demand here state-side. It's a CZ 75 Compact with a rail and safety, and has been informally deemed an "SP-01 Compact" from customers who see their similarities other than size. In 2016 Approximately 1,449 pieces were brought over. There are no plans at this time to see this model again although anything is possible down the road. This is the only information we have for it.

Let us know if you have any further questions along the way!

Thanks,

Dereck

So I tried to tally up the people on this forum (not on Reddit) and see how many people claim to own these.

9 confirmed owners

Then just a listing of what we've seen (and presumably have been sold so far)

riflegear sold out of 5
technetarmory sold out of 6 a few days ago
2tango2 reports seeing 2 of them
turboflyer1 reports seeing 1 of them at a pawn shop

That's a total of 23 either owned or seen so far that have been mentioned in this thread alone.
Do we believe that only 27 other ones exist? I thought I saw a few others on Gunbroker that were not sold by technetarmory just yesterday.

Yet some people are saying that their dealers are getting more.

I’m enjoying mine, will not be a safe queen, no matter how rare, really happy to have lucked out and found this on gunbroker, at the time was looking for a compact, preferably steel, the seller didn’t know what he had either, was not familiar with the sku#. That’s the reason I originally posted......amazing to watch the interest and bidding on sites.....in a way, I hope they don’t import anymore, but at the same time.....this is a sweet piece and deserves to be shot by fans of the brand.

Personally I think it's very coincidental that in this one thread we've already accounted for about half of these 50 guns.
My gut says that there are likely more.

Or maybe I'm underestimating the relevance and usage of www.czfirearms.us ...I just don't think half the people who buy CZ are on this forum and in this specific thread.

I've got about 800 rounds through my 99021 and it's one of my favorite guns to shoot.  I think that you'll be quite happy with the 99041 when you get it.  I have no idea why these are not standard catalog items.  They are solid shooting platforms that are small enough to comfortably conceal, yet can also step up to HD duty at night with a light attached.  They are a bit heavy but that's a good thing for those that put comfort behind shootability in priorities.  I have a CGW P01 as well and while that's a great pistol too, it's not as soft a shooter as the 99021/99041s are.

Ok so the SKU’s total up to 50 pieces for the 99041.
1st drop 15
2nd drop 15
3rd drop 20 recent.

I was told a few of the suppliers just had a open order in for any 9mm
And to fulfill orders these were injected into the market to satisfy demand.
They were sent out in mix with Normal P-01 and some were identified as “different”
Peaking interest. So the 99021 and 99041 Model numbers are unicorns among the standard
P-01. The 99041 being the fewest.

That makes sense now.
So we basically witnessed first two batches being sold (we came up little short of 30) and we are going to see the last batch coming up shortly. This will be good chance for people that didn't get them within first two batches, to get them now.
Presently GunBroker.com doesn't have them and if you search via Gun.deals you can't find any.

I am looking forward to shooting this gun, while at the same time logic tells me to make it "safe queen" given it's very limited production gun. Maybe I should just store it on side, stick with my PCR and wait for a while to see if any more of them come out. If so, take it to the range and shoot the Hell out of it  8)

Kentucky Gun CO has the 99041 for sale as does Riflegear. Just a heads up. I picked up one.

Looks like more than 50 have been imported so far as earlier reported. I wonder if these are going to multiply like the previous steel frame compacts  to 1500 or so.

As fast as the "SP01" Compacts disappeared it probably won't matter.  People will buy these up, too.

I ran across a 99041 at my local gun shop for $579 plus tax. This is my first CZ. I also have a cz 75D compact in order from grab a gun. What’s so special about this 99041? Did I just blow $600 or do I really have something special?

The 99041 is basically the same as the 99021. Here's the master thread for the 99021 so you can get an idea of why these pistols (99021 and 99041) are unique.

Do you have something special? Yes to a certain degree. It's an oddball gun that really serves no purpose (all the other CZ guns serve purposes better than this one) but is simply cool to own and shoot. The SP-01 and CZ75 full size are better range guns and competition guns. The P01 is a better carry gun because of weight.

Supposedly only 50 were produced but I am in serious doubt that is true. Every day I go on gunbroker and see more.  I think in this thread alone we've accounted for probably 20-25 of the supposed 50.

This was the same with the prior model 99021 which supposedly only came in a batch of 1500 but I suspect there were more as well.

I don’t understand the negativity on a sweet rare all steel CZ Compact with rail. This thing is a tank. It will be revered in due time. A used 99021 sold today for $765 plus shipping and transfer fees. So whether you think there’s a conspiracy by CZ to withhold the true amount of these being imported or not, the writing is on the wall. There’s little supply and high demand. I’m sorry to hear it’s not for you but I’m glad CZ is offering some cool variants to the US market
Edit: reserve wasn’t met

I'm not claiming they are bad guns. They just have no practical purpose that other Cz's don't already satisfy. They are cool in their own right.

There's no hatred here. I'm being objective.

It may not fit your carry, but how can you say this beauty will serve no purpose?  That’s an objective opinion about a subjective aspect of the gun. I can say for me it will serve the purpose of putting a smile on my face for a long time. I believe it’s called sport shooting, and I consider it to be a practical purpose. Someone may think it’s awesome for carry, and that’s ok too. Saying the CZ 75 and SP01 are better range guns and “all the other CZ guns serve purposes better than this one” seems a little harsh on the Unicorn

All of my guns make me happy. It doesn't mean they all serve a purpose. Many do not.

Carry - the P01 is a better fit due to weight
IPSC - nope
IDPA - the SP01 is better
I could go on.

I appreciate these for what they are: interesting CZ's

Until tomorrow. I look at Gunbroker every day. There are a handful each day... And they get sold then a few more pop up.

Initially in the first week or two I saw them being sold and thought they would run out.

Almost 6 weeks later there seems still to be new stock.

That's why I believe there are way more than 50.

Gunbroker doesn't reflect what is in local gun store inventory.

Thank you. I was waiting for your conspiracy theory to come out. That’s too funny. Why check every day? Is CZ and these 4 sellers are all in on it together? To disguise the true inventory?

Well the one I just posted the link to a few mins ago is now sold. So I guess that leaves 3?

Until tomorrow. I look at Gunbroker every day. There are a handful each day... And they get sold then a few more pop up.

Initially in the first week or two I saw them being sold and thought they would run out.

Almost 6 weeks later there seems still to be new stock.

That's why I believe there are way more than 50.

Gunbroker doesn't reflect what is in local gun store inventory.
Thank you. I was waiting for your conspiracy theory to come out. That’s too funny. Why check every day? Is CZ and these 4 sellers are all in on it together? To disguise the true inventory?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I look because I'm look I'm trying to find actual rare guns that don't show up everyday.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want. I have nothing to gain by this.

No one is in cahoots with CZ. They are just selling their inventory. Business as usual.

The Math:

This accounts for 42 of the 50 supposed units.

TechNetArmory still has them.
CajunGunWorks still has them

We haven't accounted for any of the guns sold at local gun stores. This count is just what was available on GunBroker.
There are people in this thread that did not buy on GunBroker. I'm not going to bother trying to add them up. I think I've made my point.

Not sure if you want to call this a conspiracy or not. I wouldn't.

t's the same thing that happened with the 99021 model when it came out. Several batches of them came out.
It's not a big deal. It's what I expected and those who followed the 99021 probably expected as well.

It doesn't change the fact that it's a cool and interesting gun.

None of my comments were made to "insult" your gun purchase. I get the feeling that people are taking it that way.
Hell I bought one.

While at the gunshow this past weekend, one of the vendors said he had heard that 500 had been made, but stated that it could not be verified (at least to his knowledge), he was however aware of the 99041 SKU and that it  had a "bit" of a following.

The dealer in R.I. seems to always have range and depth in the CZ line.  Their shipping and prices are always in line or many times the best when they have their vendor sales.  Oh,  and I guess there are a lot of people in Texas that like to buy guns ;)

I'm buying my 41 simply because of the steel frame and rail and NOT because it may or may not be "collectable, odd, rare, unique, or a unicorn".

Anyone else who honestly JUST wants a smaller SP-01?

Iif cocealed carry is priority, consider the Rami.  Since picking one up, my PCR has ALMOST joined the ranks of range gun "duty".  The small difference in length makes a difference for cocealed owb under sweater and fits in the pocket better occassionaly.

It really doesn’t matter how many have been, are going to be brought in......I’m sure the majority of owners who have put rounds through this little “tank” will agree, it is one sweet shooter, it is my current favorite, groups repeat better for me than any of my other guns, barring the wife’s buck mark (no good comparison there), so pleased to have happened upon this CZ, am entertaining another to mod, and keep this one original.

One left on gunbroker now https://www.gunbroker.com/item/746050199 they had a couple yesterday

LOL that was me! Kind of funny. It's my first CZ and I bought it with a coworker's advice. He has a few cajunized CZs and said I should jump on this. I joined the forum and am looking at the parts I need from Cajun to upgrade it.

I wanted  a P01 but the alloy frame was not for me, so he said this was the one I should go with if I want a compact with a rail and a steel frame.

I should hopefully get it later this week or early next. I will report back with pics.

Good luck.

Wow it’s already at $650... with 11 days to go!

https://www.riflegear.com/p-8966-cz-p-01-9mm-pistol-steel-frame.aspx  Free ship!

Ya that sold out within minutes

At the beginning of the week, they have 5 of these guys.  They said they will be getting more, they surprisingly regularly get good CZ stuff, like they showed me a CZ75 compact Shadowline which I've never seen NIB anywhere else.  I should've gotten that one......
Hahaha, I bought it. They claimed it was the only one in the USA, but I figure there are a few more.

It's an alloy frame, but it has been through the Custom shop.

Hi New CZ Addict Here in Texas.

Sorry, I didn't see this post made on Saturday. I was the one who purchased that 99041 from RI and shipped it to TX. Great price for the gun, no tax and no CC fee, seemed like a good deal to me for such a sweet gun.

Purchased that one for my wife as she really likes my new SP-01 and 75B.

Taking it to the range this weekend, can't wait to compare it to the SP-01. My wife has already ordered the pink CZUB grips for it so that I want be stealing "her" new gun!

I'm really enjoying this forum and all the great resources to mod my CZ guns to my liking.

I should not have discovered CGW, might as well have my paycheck direct deposited there!  :)

My two DW 1911s are complaining they aren't seeing as much action since their CZ cousins showed up!

Best regards,

Keith

This thread is making it hard not to pick up another one of these compacts. Bought a 99021 about 8 months ago converted to SAO after reading Scarlet Pistol’s thread and it is my favorite handgun that I own. Really like the balance and heft of the gun. A 99041 in DA/SA with some mods is very tempting

Hi, I bought my P-01 with steel frame 2 weeks ago. I'm from Czech republic and this model is very rare even here. I was told that there were only a few pieces left for Czech market. I don't know how many of them were made, but I was told that this model was made for some millitary or police department in Asia. They wanted all-steel compact with rail. So CZ made "a few" pistols more and most of them (50?) were shipped to US market and only a few pieces were left in here Czech Republic.

Bro,
I'm just trying to give people options if they are still looking.
It's only Monday and they sent out their inventory on Friday. These aren't exactly selling that fast so if someone is still looking they can just give TechNet a call. Their prices are good.

I don't think you're going to ever find out.
When I called CZ, someone told me there were only 50 units of 99041.
However there were clearly more than 50 sold. Gunbroker alone had them listed every day from December all the way to probably May.
And I personally have seen a number of them in local gun shops. In one local gun shop I saw 3 of them.

Underwhere's right..we'll never really know how many of them, or the 99021's were really imported, I guess it would be fair to say that production of either was "limited", with the 99041 being more limited..They're fun guns, stupid accurate, but at 44oz loaded,  IMO,a little too heavy for every day carry. I bought one simply because they are something you don't see everyday, and after these are gone (99021,99041) we might not ever see them again.. And I think the main reason why, is their weight..find me a cop, (or for that matter anybody else) who's willing to carry a 44oz(loaded) pistol along with all the other stuff they usually carry.. I'm guessing you won't find too many takers, as there's too many other, lighter options out there that'll do just as good a job..

Agreed.
The one point I'd make is: we though the 99021 was a unicorn. At least until the 99041 came out.
And there will be another unicorn in the future. Especially with the way CZ mixes and matches parts.

I do really like both of these pistols but I'd never carry them.

I tried it recently last week for a couple of days.. With a good belt, and holster it is doable, but the weight difference between it, and what I usually carry, a PX4cc,(34oz loaded) was noticable, If it was all I had, I could make it work, but I don't need to, and I'm not going to. It'll spend it's life with me going to the range in a gun rug..

I carry my CZ75 Compact every day.  Just finished mowing the yard about an hour ago in all this heat/humidity.

Back in about 1983 or 84 I was carrying a M29 S&W, two double speed loader pouches (4 speedloaders), my radio, mace, a double handcuff case with two pairs of the S&W hardened handcuffs and a night stick ring (seldom carried the night stick but wanted the loop/ring on my belt in case I did grab it from the car) for 8 or 9 hours a day, if I worked over it could be 12 to 16 hrs.

One night my buddy on graveyard shift asked me how much the rig weighed and I told him I had no idea.  We went to one of the offices that had a postal scale and I pulled the belt/gear/keepers off my pants belt and set it all on the scale.  Just over 13 lbs.  I had no idea it weighed that much.

Carry it and you will become used to it.

I carry a PCR everyday for about 13 hours.... I carry IWB because I need to tuck as a manger who is outside in SWFla. My only problem is o have to wipe with hoppes and oil the left side of the gun once a week on the decocker and the grip screw. They get some surface iron oxidation from humidity. Once a week I’ll oil the whole surface down.

Weight is not my problem. Humidity is.
I don’t mind spending a few minutes a week fondling my EDC yo make sure she’s clean.

My P07 after a trip to the range on a hot muggy day here in central VA.  The sweat was beaded up on it like rain drops when I pulled it out of the holster.  Not quite as bad yesterday at the range (nearly so).  The sweat didn't get through the leather to the gun but the holster left a wet spot on the counter top when I laid it down after removing it from my belt/pants to wash my clothes after the range trip.

I shot the P01 Omega and the M&P .380 EZ.  I cleaned those and the P07 that had never been out of the holster.  Not taking a chance, if I can help it.  I hate rust.

I see what you're saying, but still, I don't think you're going to find anybody who wants more weight when lighter options are available. It would be interesting to see what the current weight is of the rigs cops are carrying now, I'd guess that it'd be lighter, as things like radios (and I'm guessing ) have gotten smaller, lighter with equal or better performance.I think it would be fair to say that the majority of agencys today are carrying a polymer framed pistol or some sort, so weight there has for the most part, dropped.. As much as I like my 99021, I'm currently keeping my eyes peeled for a recently manfactured ('18 manfacture date) P-01 Omega, and figure on doing some upgrades (sights, CGW parts) to it as money allows. I figure it won't weigh much more than what I'm carrying now, (a PX4cc, I'm figuring the P01 weighs maybe 4oz more loaded) My 99021 is a tack driver, and I figure a P-01 would be as well. On the range, I'll be the first to admit that my 99021 can out shoot my PX4, using the same ammo, so, that's the main reason I'm looking at a P01 Omega, plus they're easier to work on, can easily swap mag release, and it's a decocker, which is important to me for carrying..and not much of a weight gain..In this case, the juice is worth the squeeze..

I have a Shadow Line Compact that I don't have room for in my safe...if you'd rather have that.

To me, the weight difference between the aluminum and steel matter much more when carrying than it does when shooting. I prefer to shoot the 99041, but I prefer to carry the aluminum frame.

Fortunately, the Shadow Line Compact outshoots even my buddy's Cajun 99041.

My problem is once I bought my 99041, I've been on the fence about just using it or keeping it unfired in the safe for a while or just selling it and getting a cheaper one I won't mind working on.  I've always liked the Boba Fett looking ones myself.

I bought one and put it in the safe.  Unfired.  Just field stripped it and lubed it/wiped it down and put it back in the box.

Showed it to my sons and nephew.

The shop I bought it from had more.  I'd see them at every local gun show and even went to his shop once (when I bought the first one.)

He had them show after show and I bought another one.  Didn't fire it either.  Just field stripped/lubed and put away in the safe.

Then I got the idea of converting it to SAO in an attempt to trade it to my youngest son for his P07 9MM.  He seldom shoots the P07 as his favorite pistol has been the CZ75 SA (ever since he got it).  I figured if he liked the full sized gun he might be tempted by the SAO Compact.  Nope.  He never would talk trade so I shot it/sighted it in.  I think I've had it to the range once since I sighted it in and shot a couple magazines through it.  I have all the original parts in the box with it, so it could be converted back if I ever felt the need.  But it's no longer "unfired in the box."  He'll end up with both of the some day anyway.  Hopefully it'll be a good long while.

The factory trigger was just nasty.  If I was picking on trigger pulls I'd have left it in the shop.  It's pretty decent with the SA conversion and the CGW bushing works with the trigger and the rest of the CZ parts to shoot nice groups for me.  I considered carrying it some, it does still have the firing pin block installed and still has a 3 lb. SA trigger that feels great.

It's a good feeling gun, but those grooves on the front/back of the P01's just add something to the feel that made me choose a P01 Omega over the steel framed gun for my next carry 9MM.

Just recently picked up a steel frame P-01. What a tank. Like shooting a 22 lol.

Bought one new in box a few weeks ago. Cleaned/lubed and in storage. Have plenty of other CZs for action so I don’t think I even going to try it out for a long time.

Same here - bought the 99041 and just put it away because there are so few.  Didn't realize I would end up doing so or would have bought a regular or used P01 or PCR.  Will probably sell 99041 son so someone can put it to use. Guess I'm not one for safe queens.

(What's the opposite of a safe queen, anyway?)

Safe Queen = clean, unused, seldom seen, don't know if it's reliable/accurate or not.

Warrior Princess = not so clean, well used, touched/grabbed/held every day, absolutely certain it's reliable and accurate.

Remember all those guys that name their guns with female names?

I just never quite understood that, but I know guys that do it.

Funny - I never heard that. Either I don't pay attention enough or...I don't pay attention enough.  But I like it. Sounds better than saying "Boba Fett-looking".

I initially read all the buzz on the forum about the 99021, got a friend to buy one but never got around to getting one myself. Shot my friend's 99021 a few times. I really like the beaver tail on the 99021. Started looking around and saw the 99041. Searched online but both have dried up in stock. Did some extensive Google searching for 99021 and 99041, found one place which had a 99041 in stock! Called and verified they had it, purchased it, picked it up yesterday.
