Compact CZ 75s / Re: cajunized P-01 vs shadow carry

So I guess now we know why CZ doesn’t offer an OR option on the P-01 et al: for the @ $10 cost for CZ to machine the P-01 slide for an optic, there wouldn’t be a whole lot of reason for folks to buy a @ $1400 S2 carry over a $650 P-01 with the same trigger.

I would actually prefer the standard P-01 trigger on a EDC pistol as a light Cajunized trigger could conceivably be a liability in a high stress S HTF situation. So get the word out, hopefully it’ll drive the price down hard on the S2 Carry. I wouldn’t mind paying a couple hundred more than a P-01 for the OR slide, and the fancy ergos, grips & finish, etc.

Tell everybody the S2 Carry is a dog so I can get one cheap!

I never said there's no scenario where you could not get by without action upgrades and ANY CZ will function perfectly without them. The assumption is that the S2 Carry would have a trigger as good as the S2 but it does not. The issue here is that the S2 Carry IS NOT the same as the standard S2 and the action is in fact identical to the standard CZ pistols. To make the action of the S2 Carry as good as the S2 upgrades will be needed. So with the S2 carry all you are really getting is a CZ compact with an optic ready slide and nitride finish. Nothing more.
You can buy a regular compact and leave it bone stock internally. Have the slide milled for the optic of your choice and still spend hundreds less than you will spend on the S2 Carry plus your added optic and have exactly the same trigger feel on either gun.

This!🧐

FWIW I would put my cajunized PCR trigger up against any DA/SA trigger out there. It is my most frequently carried EDC. Am planning on putting an EPS carry on it soon. I have the optic ($300 new) and my local gunsmith does direct mount slide cut for $150.  I don’t carry railed guns but always have a small tactical penlight in my pocket.

I concur with SVPP’s feedback.

We own PCRs, S2 carry, and DWX compact.  No trigger jobs on any so I can’t compare CGW trigger work to stock triggers.  We like all 3 and recommend each for what they are.

The triggers between PCR and S2 carry are the same.  The differences of PCR to S2 carry are sights, optics cut, pic rail, aluminum grips, slightly more aggressive grips, different slide shape and grips, and storage case.  IMO, they don’t make the S2 carry any better/worse than PCR or DWX in accuracy or reliability.

I mention DWX compact because it has best stock trigger of the 3.  I suspect it can be improved too but I mention it because if you get S2 carry and have CGW work the trigger, you’re close to the cost of DWX.  Yeah, it’s a 1911 with CZ grip but it feels and shoots like a CZ, just single action with safety instead of decocker.

Lots of variables to weigh but you can’t go wrong with any of these but bottom line is SVPP’s feedback, the regular compact models are still the better deal.

I thought it strange too. I was wondering what had happened since I visited this forum (2012).

In a word, the answer is SCAMMERS.

Yeah it's been discussed already but the simple fact is the S2 Carry has the same action exactly as the standard CZ's. The trigger is no better so for my money I'd buy a standard CZ and upgrade it the way I wanted it. I do my own installs though so I don't have to ship anything to CGW, just order the parts.
NO better? I've owned essentially all the DA/SAs besides the Shadows so I don't know firsthand, but I always assumed they had better triggers than standard CZs. Because if not, that is a big price jump for some minor ergonomic tweaks.
If I were setting the gun up for myself this how it would go:

1. Compact of choice   or this 1. S2 carry
$630                                      $1399
2. CGW Pro Package               2. CGW Pro Package
$300                                       $300
3. upgraded sights                  3. Upgraded sights
$100                                       $100
Total-$1030                             Total-$1799

If a guy wants an optic:
1. Compact of choice
$630
2. CGW Pro Package
$300
3. Slide Milling cost say
$200 on average depending on the shop
4. Optic of choice
$3-500 depending on choice.
Total-$1430-1630

S2 Carry with CGW upgrade and optic:
1. S2 Carry
$1399
2. CGW Pro Package
$300
3.Optic of choice
$3-500
Total-$1999-2199
Obviously there can be variations in optic cost or better sights and such but you get the idea. The regular compact models are still the better deal.
Interesting implication here... there's essentially no scenario where you would NOT recommend cajunization in other words. I assumed the S2 carry option was the lazy route... an upgrade without CGW involved. Hence why I was asking how it'd compare to my cajunized P-01 that I already love.

One minor note on the price though is that not all of us (talking about myself ha) are technically savvy enough so that pro-package runs a bit more when we need to ask CGW to install it.
I checked my LGS and can add another data point to what SVPP and others have said, the Shadow Carry trigger is nothing special.

Follow the above advice and get a cajunized P-01. It will be better and cheaper than the Shadow Carry.

I had CZ Custom mill my PCR slide for a Holosun 507K and I swap the slide to my P01 when I want to have a weapon mounted light. The PCR is my EDC.
Mind-blowing on the trigger aspect. I assumed it was at least close to cajunization considering the price. I've never owned any Shadows (cajunized variants of a P-01, steel P-01, and an SP-01 / stock variants of 75 and 75 compact) so maybe I'm not missing out on all that much with never doing a Shadow.

Cool idea on your optic/slide being swappable between the two.

I too am a fan boy.  CZs just fit me, both the metal 75 series, P07/9 & P10 series.

I’ve done well with the P10 C in my IDPA games, a gun I shoot the best with.

That said, after using the P10C all last year, am now shooting my long neglected 75b stainless & am having a hoot.

Enjoy your P10c; looking forward to your range reports and impressions
