New 75 SP-01 barrel wear!
« on: October 17, 2018, 06:28:05 AM »
I purchased a new CZ75 SP-01 yesterday, this was my third bucket list gun, now I'm done! When I field stripped the gun to give it a good cleaning , I noticed the barrel coating had a lot off wear for a new gun. I called the LGS and asked it it was used and was told no, factory new. The only gun I have that has that kind of wear is my SIG P226 Mk25, it has 1000 rounds thru her.  Is it normal for CZ metal pistols to have wear on the barrel?

Yes, it's normal. Pics would help though to be sure.

CZ actually has machines that they run pistols in that cycles them to simulate break in. They also test fire something like a full magazine through each pistol.

The wear makes sense now! Now to take her to the range and have some fun :)

Enjoy!

PS: Here's a link to the video showing the machine from a tour that Military Arms got.

Yes...just as other stated, it is completely normal.. some people is polish it completely off. Personally, I like the battleworn look on the barrel.

For some reason the coating on the CZ 75 barrels are not as durable as the ones on the barrels for the P-07 or p-09.  The barrel on the P-07 Duty I used to have got wear marks but the coating never rubbed off.  It would have been nice if CZ used the same coating process on the CZ 75 barrels when it started coating it.

Definitely not the same coating process, my P-10C shows no wear after 500 rounds, its ok!

My understanding is that the "coating" on SP-01 is a byproduct of steel carburization to harden the barrel.  It is not meant to be a real coating
