A common alloy of zinc and copper — often 1/3rd zinc and 2/3rd copper — is brass. Current spot prices are: zinc — $1.36/lb; copper — $4.29/lb. Brass is more corrosion resistant than copper, and it is stronger (resists deformation more) than copper.
