A few months back, on the last day of a four day training class I noticed my slide stop lever had sheared in half. See image with a complete P01 slide stop for reference (the other half of the broken slide stop I could not find - it was lost to the range mud).
Interesting slide note:
I know that I fired at least 2 magazines through the pistol with only the half of the (I am not sure how I did not I am not sure how I did not notice the slide stop was missing but it was part of the end training and a live fire stress scenario that was shot mostly one handed, plus it was about 40 degrees and raining so I'll chalk it up to that and general obliviousness). So I thought it was kind of neat that the gun continued to run with only half of the slide stop, while I am also grateful it did not come apart in my face while firing.
I replaced the slide stop and continued shooting the gun for another 1000 rds or so.
The other day after shooting a low round count match, I took the pistol apart and noticed a piece of the frame was missing (SEE Image of frame internal - note the missing piece on the right side of the groove that retains the slide stop. I am not sure if the two instances are related at all but they seem too coincidental to not be.
By my tracking the pistol has ~9,300 rds through it, to me that seems a very low row count to have a frame failure (albeit a minor one) and a slide stop breakage.
I did have the frame and slide cerakoted after having the slide milled for a Trijicon RMR, maybe these are contributing factors? I can't imagine that would affect it to such a degree, or that the tolerances of the metallurgy would be so low as to not allow for these minor modifications.
As far as ammunition I shoot almost exclusively 147 gr Speer TMJ and (on occasion) 147gr HST Standard Pressure. I have only ever run factory ammunition through the gun.
Anyone else experienced or heard of anything similar?
Also I am assuming that the cerakoting of the frame will have voided any warranty with CZ, anyone know for sure?
Thank you,
