Does anyone carry an A01 or Shadow 2?

We live in the country and I shoot water moccasins 3 to 4 times a year. My normal EDC is a Sig 320SC or Sig 365. The last snake I shot last summer was coming after me and about 15 feet away; I hit it with my second to last bullet.

I'm off Friday Saturday and Sunday and spend a fair bit of time outside. i am not going to grab a shotgun every time I go out so I started Carrying my Shadow 2 in a DM Bullard leather holster (P220 but excellent fit). Turns out my Alien Gear holster for my A01 is more comfortable so that's what I am carrying now. actually hides pretty well under a Duluth shirt

Obviously I shoot much better with these two CZs than with small Sigs. I did finish off 2 wild hogs with my Shadow 2 while hog hunting in January both head shots at about 10 yards.

I personally wouldn't carry either as they don't have firing pin blocks and I carry appendix .

The shadow 2 was too heavy for me so  I went back to carrying my Sig P226 Mk25.

My EDC is a Shadow 1.  I carry it in an OWB Shadow 2 holster that it fits quite nicely in.  I have carried the 2 a few times but I have my 1 set up with night sights.

Not questioning your choice of gun/ ammo, but have you considered a revolver with CCI shot shells ?  I’ve not had personal experiences with this combination against water moccasins and wonder if it might offer better chance of success.

Regardless, I do like my CZs, used in IDPA frequently with OWB holsters from privateer leather and Warbird leather. Both quality and reputable holster makers.

im thinking a judge with 410 shells with #6 bird shot for snakes.  I tried cci snake shot in 38 special out of a snub nose revolver.. very disappointing.

We also get coons with distemper that will attack the dogs and need to be shot (cyclical about every 3 years). I shoot the 2 big CZs very well and am comfortable with them. I'm not sure why but was never interested in a Judge.

I'm a fan of the P07c for EDC, the Shadow is just too big for my liking.

I love my Shadow 2, but would never consider it as a carry gun. To heavy, and to nice a gun, and to expensive to be dragging around through the mud.
I carry a 10mm Glock 20 and feel pretty confident with it. That said, hitting a snake with any handgun can be tricky.
If my G20 was all I had on me, I have 16 tries to hit it.
If I know I'm in an area with aggressive snakes, I'll have my Police Service Six loaded with shot shells. I do have two holsters.

i have "Cajunized" a 75B and shoot it almost as well as my A01 and Shadow 2 so I will likely carry that although there is not a huge size difference.

1) Boots, invest in a good pair of high boots.

2) Carry what works for you. For me mucking about in the woods/creeks I carry a P07 as the finish is very durable, and I wouldn't be unhappy even if I did scar it up some. It's moderate in size and weight, accurate easy to shoot well, and has good capacity.

I carry my A01-LD but it would seem in very different environments than you. I also carry a 45 colt shot shell derringer if I go into the snake lands around my house. It seems silly to me to carry multiple, especially really heavy, pistols, but in the end I am just far more comfortable with the A01 for most situations, except snakes. The 45 shot shells just eliminate everything within some 5-10 feet, which is all I need in rattle snake land. That number might be different for you since I don't know how water moccasins behave and how effectively they strike from distances, or if they tend to travel in groups. Rattlers - you can go a lifetime and never see 2 coiled and ready to strike in one day. So the derringer, so far, has served its need very well.

I'm in the camp that says carry what you are most comfortable and competent with, even if it is an enormously expensive race gun that might very well find itself in a box on a police shelf someday over a non-situation, and never to be returned. When it comes to life and death, don't grab something less because you are afraid it will be confiscated.

FWIW, I used to carry a Govt model 1911.  The 1911 weighed 42-ish ounces with an empty mag.  The Shadow 2 weighs 46-ish ounces with an empty mag.  Add bullets and you’re over 3 lbs on either gun. 

I think with the right holster and belt a Shadow 2 can be carried comfortably provided you dress around the gun.  For woods-bashing, have you considered a chest rig such as the Kenai?
