+5 Mag extensions for P-07/10 fit USPSA Gauge OK
« on: December 09, 2018, 09:02:15 AM »
Thanks to a Black Friday deal post by Earl Keese I picked up 3 Shield Arms +5 extensions for the less expensive 15 round P-10C mags that retro-fit perfectly in my 2016/2017 P-07's. This gives 20+1 with room to spare in the 'official' EGW 141.25mm mag gauge for USPSA & IDPA CARRY-OPTICS.  Well made and easy to install.

Just got back from the range shooting 210 rounds 10 FULL mag loads 20+1 of various brands FMJ. FLAWLESS!

Thought I'd share my positive experience, and a thank you shout-out to Earl for the tip!

That actually looks pretty good. 8)  I'm currently thinking about adding a red dot to my P09 and your pics came up from my searches.  Just waiting on my Vortex Venom to show up to see if I like it.

I don't even own either one (of course I'm thinking about it) but dang that looks great. What was the Black Friday price? Never know might get lucky for Christmas. I have been a good boy.

I think they're still offering ~$35 each if you purchase 3+
Maybe free shipping >$99?

And it shoots even better than it looks!  O0
Primary did the milling and titanium Cerakote; and the CZ P-07 or P-09 tall SR tritium front iron co-witnesses the two markings on rear of Venom for decent lower 1/3 BUIS.  Hope it all works out for you. -Vinny

I'll probably end up liking it so my P07 will need the same treatment.  Red dots on pistols sure make it easier on my aging eyes.  Recently installed a Holosun 507c on one of my Glocks and instantly fell in love with it.  It's packed with features and the reticle is so crisp and clean.  The dots/reticles on my RMR's and Eotech's look like garbage compared to the 507c.

Yeah, totally agree that Red Dots (once past learning curve) are so much faster/more accurate, especially for aging eyes.
I have several brands of RDS. I like the top battery Venom and DPPro best, and Romeo 1 is OK too; but I find the reticle on RMR is too small, and Shield RMS too flimsy. However, I've never tried the Holosun 507c. I'll have to check it out.

I bought 2 of the Shield +5?s to use in USPSA Carry Optics and 3-gun as well.  First thing I did when I attached it to the mag body was stick them in the EGW gauge.  I also measured about .25? shy of the max allowed length and get 20+1.

In order to get more capacity, I went with the Springer Precision 140mm basepad and a P-09 mag.  Gives me 22 rounds in the mag.  With the Grams follower can get 23.  Downside to that combo is there?s nothing to prevent overinsertion when the slide is locked back, which can potentially bend or break the ejector.  Using the Shield Arms extension with a P10C mag, the extension acts as the lip to prevent overinsertion.

I use the P-09 mag + SPP extension as my starter mag and use the P10C mag + Shield extension as my reload (in the rare event I go to slide lock mid-stage).

Excellent tip on starting with the 22+ P-09 mag with the SPP base (carefully inserting) then following up with the 20rnd mags you can slam in.  I usually mark the base of my starter mags anyhow with red paint.
