Relative difficulty of Cajun p07 kit installation
« on: January 21, 2019, 07:51:03 PM »
Relative to fairly easy armor/gunsmith work ala building complete ARs, complete glocks, basic work with sig p series (ejectors, hammer spring etc): How difficult is the P07 Cajun installation. Eventually want to rmr mill the slide so I could have it done by someone like primary machine but it?s f the process is fairly simple I would rather do it sooner and not have to bother with ffl hassle with shipping.

I?d give it a shot. If you run into issues, they?re really good about answering their phones, or calling back with help.

P07/P09 is the easiest CZ to work on. Most of pins do not need forced puch and can be push through with right size puches. Just make sure not lost the few small springs inside sear. Maybe oder a couple extra as insurance. I lost one of the sear spring and have to order one while waiting. YouTube is your friends. Good luck with your install.

Two words, Joe Mustang.  He's a member here and has some excellent videos showing complete disassembly and reassembly of the P-series guns.  Check them out and then decide.

Based on your background, I'd say it will be a cake walk for you.

Thank you, had seen a couple random videos but it was difficult to tell exactly what was being done as they didn?t have great explanations or angles. Watched the Joemustang one and that was very helpful and seems well within comfort level.

I?m doing my trigger spring, hammer spring, firing pin and firing pin retainer today. The only real surprise was removing the hammer spring plug, it?s under a lot of tension and needs to be pushed down harder than I thought to remove the pin.

Joe I watched all you videos and they were extremely informative and helpful. It does appear though the 07 and 09 slightly different regarding the removal and installation of the trigger bar. When I was removing my trigger bar all I had to do is lift the trigger end up and gently angle and turn the the back side out. To reinstall I reversed the process. Your videos show lifting up on disconnector to remove and install the trigger bar.
I might add I did not remove the sear pin, sear or hammer assembly since all I was installing was a lighter trigger spring in this step.

Got me.  I haven't had a P-09 or P-07 apart in a while.  I thought the two models went together the same way, but I'll bet the way shown in the videos is not the only way to do it!

It is simple, but there are some things to watch.  Be careful when you take the ejector and spring out - you can lose the spring and they often run out of them at CZ USA.  (Wonder why).  I normally go to half cock to get the decocker arm out.  I don't have the link but there is an $8 tool to hook up the decocker spring.  FOR ME - it is an essential item.  Without it, it took me 40 minutes one time.  With it, it never takes more than 2.  Its a thing that takes practice.
BUT, for a decocker, it is SO much easier than a 75 series decocker - which i won't touch.

I just use a small punch, filed flat on the end like a tiny screw driver.  I filed a small notch in the end.  It works pretty well and can usually get it in a couple of tries.

I did mine, pro kit with over travel stop trigger.  I had a stock P09 to look at to see how it was supposed to look and that helped.

The decocker spring can be a giant pain in the ass, otherwise not too bad.

At first I wasn't sold on the kit, but after a few magazines it started smoothing out.  Absolutely love it.
