Sphinx SDP - Even better than I'd heard
« on: March 08, 2018, 07:34:46 PM »
Just took my brand new SDP Compact to the range for the first time. 220 flawless rounds (124gr FMJ x 150, 115gr FMJ x 50, Hornady Critical Duty HP x 20).

The only disappointment is a DA trigger just slightly heavier than Rosie O'Donnell. I know zrtactical.com has a hammer spring / firing pin spring kit that purportedly reduces DA weight by 3-3.5 lbs. Wouldn't mess with what feels like a perfect SA trigger, but wondering what others have done to address the raw tonnage of this first draw shot.

Make the spring change....I have done it to both of my SAR's.   The SA goes from good to excellent while the DA goes from Rosie to very very acceptable.  If you don't like it change it back.

Great gun ! I tried to put the zrtactical firing pin spring on but to no avail! My rollpin would not budge. Off to a gunsmith. Also i would love to see a replacement grip that has a little more bite. It can get slippery during my texas summer.

Anybody has used just the hammer spring from the kit?

I put the whole kit in mine. I don't regret it at all. I wound up using the middle hammer spring. I tried the lightest one but got a couple light primer strikes in 2 boxes of blazer brass 124gr ammo.

The spring kit transforms the DA pull.

I used just the hammer spring in both of my SDP's.  Dropped the DA significantly, and the SA pretty much stayed the same, maybe just a tad lighter, but almost non-noticeable.  You will not regret changing it.  Makes the SDP even better than already is.

I put the hammer spring and the fp spring in my subcompact.  It was an excellent change.
