CZ P10c Magwell
« on: January 13, 2019, 07:20:00 PM »
Just got a magwell from CZ Custom. Beautiful addition. Went on super easy. Felt amazing. I got it mainly because it makes an awesome  competition ( fun run ) gun,  but when I slam a mag in I pinch the end of my pinky. Problem solved with magwell. Protects hand and nestles it into the also awesome grip. BUT none of my mags fit except the standard 15 rounder. Not even the 17, not to mention the mag extension . They sell a base for themag with magwell but is only a plus one.
Someone help me.

To maybe clarify that last post, I only got the magwell so it wouldn't pinch my finger. I only carry the firearm with the standard magazine. With the magwell , concealing would be much more difficult. Shooting a competitive event would be ideal for a magwell , but it only accepts standard mags. WT?

Judging by all the views on this post , I can only assume no one has a solution.
Some are probably saying "it is a new gun, give it time". Fair enough
How many people out there carry with a competition size magwell ?
How many out there use standard sized magazines in competition with a magwell ?
What do you do with a product that doesn't serve any useful purpose ?

How many documented self-defense or home-defense shootouts can you find where a magazine exchange was ever required?

The best study of shootings I've found  thus far, is the Ellifritz study, which represents many, many studies with well-documented summaries of the shootings. (Here's a link: https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/alternate-look-handgun-stopping-power).

As you will see as you look through this study, the vast majority of them seldom go beyond 3-4 shots fired by the good guy.  And some of the smaller-caliber guns do quite well.  (Of course, that may simply be the "indian" and not the "arrow.")

If a magwell seems important to you, do it, but it may be more psychological support than a practical tool.   If you'd also use the gun in competition, there may be value added... but adding it may change the class in which you compete.

I only bought the magwell because my little finger gets slammed between the mag base plate and the pistol grip. With the magwell in place my finger does not get slammed. Unfortunately the extended magwell will not accept extended magazines. I dont carry with a backup magazine because i know the statistics you quoted. I dont want to carry with a magwell, i only got it for competition ( when you have to reload). But if it wont work with extended magazines then...What Good is it ?

I wouldn't blame the firearm - I'd ask the manufacturers of the magwell and extended magazines. Sounds like it was designed for standard length mags. Also - see if you can find a P-10F mag to try out, might solve your problems?

Chefdave442:

I didn't see your other replies above when I responded (but they are dated before I replied) --  don't know how I missed them!  Had I noticed them I might NOT have responded.  Your reason  for wanting a mag well make senses.

As armoredman notes in his reply, getting a full-size mag (for the 10F) and a mag extension (if one is ever available) would probably solve the problem another way in a somewhat more elegant way.
