How many people out there carry with a competition size magwell ?
How many out there use standard sized magazines in competition with a magwell ?
What do you do with a product that doesn't serve any useful purpose ?
How many documented self-defense or home-defense shootouts can you find where a magazine exchange was ever required?
The best study of shootings I've found thus far, is the Ellifritz study, which represents many, many studies with well-documented summaries of the shootings. (Here's a link:
https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/alternate-look-handgun-stopping-power).
As you will see as you look through this study, the vast majority of them seldom go beyond 3-4 shots fired by the good guy. And some of the smaller-caliber guns do quite well. (Of course, that may simply be the "indian" and not the "arrow.")
If a magwell seems important to you, do it, but it may be more psychological support than a practical tool. If you'd also use the gun in competition, there may be value added... but adding it may change the class in which you compete.
