Blowing big holes

 I took the big boys to the indoor range today for a good 10, 15, and 25 yard workout. My 97 BD and the old Colt Gov. model each got to fire about 200 rounds, man I love blowing big holes in targets.  What I like best is when those holes touch each other and make even bigger holes.
 The 2 guns are equal with the 97BD having an edge in magazine cap, and a DA/SA trigger. Where the old Colt shines is it's no BS 2 1/4 pound SA trigger and the fact that it's been on my hip when needed for well over 20 years. Man it's great to be retired and have fun toys.

     Hiya lewmed and thx for the thread. I can relate a little having owned the czc 1911,sig target nitron,and ACCU 97b, but being on fixed income can't enjoy 400 rounds of 45 per visit anymore,but do enjoy making those big holes as well. Look forward to seeing those results if ya post vids or pics on the range day part of the forum. And think you'd smile shooting a 6in colt python with its 2lb SA that I'd had, seemed just thinking bang made it go off. lol Be well.

 Adrian   I'll post some photos when I figure out how or when one of my grandchildren shows me how. As for the cost of shooting the 45 it's not so bad I reload a 200 gr plated bullet over 5.2 gr of W-231 that works out to about $7.00 per 50 rounds. I shoot 5 shot strings and  take my time I only load 5 rounds per magazine that way I can spend most of an afternoon in my own world.

We always loaded 5 rounds, revolver or 1911.  Why?  Because that gave us ten 5 shot groups. 

I haven't shot my 1911's (except for the 1917 Colt production/US Army pistol) in a long time.  I used to take it to the range after I bought the Glock.  Between my nephew asking me what was wrong and me getting worried about my eyes/hands, etc. with those Glock sized groups, the 1911 was a way to show it wasn't me and make me feel better.

The new XD 5" Tactical will outshoot the M&P's and XDMs, but I guess I need to take the Series 80 with me next range trip (and see if it still works....)
