Repurposing a set of Lok Grips on a P01
« on: February 17, 2019, 08:06:20 PM »
What?s up fellas,

So I was just about to buy some Lok Thin Matrix Grips for the latest P01 (in OD Green or FDE), when I saw a member here had a set of Thin Bogies for sale at a great price (and great guy also). I have a few other sets of the Bogies, so I knew I loved the texture, but the color was a little far out. (Zombie green over orange) But figures I?d give them a shot, and figured if I didn?t dig them, I could always refinish them with duracoat. I ran them for about a week, LOVE the width and texture, but the color never grew on me. So I did a duracoat on them, and finished them off with a gloss coat just to make them a little different. Next few posts will be photo heavy.

All in all, I?m very pleased how they turned out. Grip texture is unchanged, still know you?re holding a Lok Bogie. I don?t expect to have any wearing issues on the finish, but the whole job took minimal resources, I have enough left to do it 10x over if needed. Thought I?d share!

That?s more like it.  8) No disrespect to the zombie green, but the Hunter Green with gloss is much more what I had in mind.

Now I realize that the 75 High Polish and the P01 High Polish both need a coat of clear on their grips also (both bogies blood red/purple & purple/blood red), because, Shiny Gun.  ;D

Look great!

question re: Lok.  I really like the palm swell on the stock grips, and actually like the rubberized texture..  but I'm wondering re: carry.. if a slimmer profile  would be advantageous, without losing that great stock grip/feel.

Any comments re: going with ie. thin bogie lock,, to get some thinness, but increased purchased due to the texture.. or

any other comments how various LOK grips work on the P-01.. for both carry and duty.    at abt $80 a pop,, don't want to guess.. as I assume resale is going to cost me ie. 30%  by the time I find someone who likes my specific grip/texture/color combo...  if I don't bond w/ my choice..

tnx!

Thanks fellas!!

Mark, if you like how the stock grips feel, I?d stick with them, unless you are wanting more grip, or less problems with getting caught against clothing.

The stock grips are excellent on the P01. I just have a hard time leaving anything alone. If you?re wanting to go thinner, and don?t mind losing the palm swell, I?d absolutely recommend picking up some Thin Matrix/Thin Checkered or Thin Bogies from Lok. My favorites are the Bogies, but they are at the end of the scale re:aggressive. The Matrix are made specifically for carry and currently only for the compacts, so I?d recommend starting there if the day comes and you want to spice up the P01 a little bit. Those suckers are THIN.

you know what  Sango.. that's great advice.  I love the stock grips. and .. really have no reason to change them, .. initially would be just because LOK < etc > LOOK cool.  The palm swell < to me > makes a huge contribution to the Ergos on CZ. ..  I'll just use the P-01 as is.. for now..  and only when the grips DON'T work for some reason ( ie. Carry )  I'll revisit the LOKS.

First off, I'll spend $ on replacing the sights. I know the stock sights gotta go.. Seriously considering the CGW / Dawson precision 3 dot tritium set..  those are $120 and will consume my mad money for the time being.

Thanks for the sage advice..
-Mark
