CZ-82 Threaded Barrel question
« on: September 15, 2020, 06:11:03 AM »
I've been searching the web and haven't found anything, so I am suspecting this can't be done...
I want to get a suppressor for my CZ-82, but I really dislike the threaded barrels that stick out past the slide.   I saw a CZ-83 in 32ACP that had a flush threaded barrel, but never in .380 or 9x18.  Is it possible or is the barrel too thin to narrow it and then thread it so a suppressor and adapter would fit without interfering with the slide?

I imagine it could be done for looks, but it wouldn't shoot worth a spit with or without the suppressor installed since the barrel lock up would be worthless. The slide would either split at the bushing or wreck the suppressor's female thread under recoil. Where did you see this pistol, in a movie?

83s are blowback with a fixed barrel, so I’m not sure it would effect the “lockup” at all would it?

Maybe not, but there must be a reason they're not seen in that configuration.

No not a movie, I'll see if I can find the link again.   It was a .32 though with a smaller ID, which is how I think they got away with threading it.  Why would the lockup be worthless?

I'm thinking, and is why I am asking because I don't know, that it's due to the barrel thickness.  I've also seen Walthers done like this, but again they were .32s
