Shadow 2 Sights
« on: March 16, 2019, 06:59:08 PM »
I've had my Shadow 2 for several months and I really like the pistol. That said, I think I would like the sights better if they were more like the TFX Pro Sights.  If you have changed your Shadow 2 sights what did you change to?

It's sights are perfect for its intended use. They're not defensive pistol sights, they're meant for fast, accurate target acquisition in competition. If your using your shadow 2 for a house gun (can't imagine lugging it around as a carry piece), go ahead and swap out the sights. If it's for the range, practice some more with it as is and get used to the sights. Get proficient with them and you'll see why I've spent a fair amount of money converting other pistols over to what the shadow 2 comes with!

I agree, stock sights are very good for intended purpose of punching targets.

I have been shooting the Shadow at Thursday night "Friendly Competitions", and if I shoot slow I can be very accurate but when I try to acquire the target quickly it seems I lose the front blade and am have trouble picking it up.  I was thinking a slightly wider notch in the rear might be helpful. I can shoot my Glock with Ghost Ring sights quickly or my P01 Omega with Tru Glo sights quickly, picking up the target fine.  I will try a few more outings and see if it gets better.  Being in my sixty's my vision isn't what it used to be, it's hard to get and keep things focused quickly.

I can sympathize with that. I'm 60 and have astigmatism that's got me far sighted. My carry and house pistols have 3 dot F.O.'s or 3 dot night sights. Poor light like indoors you can still kinda make out the 3 dots even if the fiber optic isn't light. Self defense also is generally close distance and accuracy I would say less critical.
I used to shoot IDPA matches and that's where I started using the shadow 2's style of sights. They were always outdoors by the way. I would practice my draw and sight alignment at home, and shoot about a thousand rounds a month practicing. It becomes sight picture memory. Your brain knows what it should look like and aligns it. Over the years my sight picture has become a little out of focus, but it still works really well.
Give it a try before spending money on sights.

You could order a new front sight from Dawson Precision. They make different widths and heights so you can get exactly what you need. I use their sights on most of my guns.
