So whats the widget bit that's on the side of the slide?

There's a widget on the right side of a cz75 slide, right behind the ejection cutout hole. ITs a long thin, angle cut piece which sort of attempts to keep the ergonomics, but it looks like its a pin that's been hammered into place.

Whats its purpose? What would happen if it were removed?

Are you referring to the extractor?

Ah so it may be. It has the right shape in the slide to sit in the rimless rim area.I thought the extractor was just that pointy metal bit thats revealed in the bottom left of the slide when the back of the slide pushes back far enough for it to come out. I suppose that's a second part to the whole extractor package, being a stopping point for the bullet which helps flip the cart out along with the extractor's grab on the rim.

Well was worth it to take it apart to figure out the pieces involved, dabbed miniscule amounts of oil in it on the parts showing some shininess and it seems to be a little bit smoother to cycle while dry.

Got it. I just had trouble following the CZ manual's picture.

So doe a CZ75B have a hammer safety thumb? What is the action to which it speaks of lowering the hammer? The firing pin is apparently that exposed round section that the hammer directly touches if its fully decocked.

In such a position, the pull on the trigger seems to be most safe, high resistance to pulling the trigger, immediate resistance. If the hammer is lowered until it catches on this halfway point (dont know what its called), the trigger is much looser in the beginning, and when it reaches resistance its still easier to pull, which would seem less safe than the full pull of fully decocked.

I've figured out how to fully decock safely. Im wondering what action or hammer safety thumb means. If the latter means that secondary catching position?  Would lowering hammer to the action mean fully against the firing pin?
