Dpm recoil system with compensators
« on: March 31, 2019, 04:22:33 PM »
I just purchased a dpm recoil system for the optic planet sale going on. I was wondering if anyone had experience using this guide rod system in conjunction with a compensator, I have the primary machine one specifically. I saw that it comes with 3 different springs but it seems that their approach is to go heavier and usually with a comp u go lighter and didn't really think about it til after I ordered it. Anyways thoughts?

Hiya Yankchef and thanks for your thread. I didn't notice any difference in using my DPM in my CM vs the SS vs plastic guide rod, keeping the SS in it for preference sake. I'm sure compensators take many shapes and forms but the three ports of the CM make it feel like a .22lr recoil. Willing to bet how hot or not your ammo choice is also part of the recoil question. Slide would not cycle enough using standard main/aka hammer spring,it needed a 6lb spring to cycle the ammo I can afford to shoot, namely the wall mart federal 115gr. With the DPM usually coming with a couple extra weight of recoil springs, suppose that allows a little wiggle room for the type of ammo you use and its perceived recoil. Meaning if you used the lighter recoil spring and it cycled fine, but you felt the slide hitting back a little to hard,I'd try a heavier recoil spring,if it cycles fine you should have benefited from some degree of less perceived recoil. With performance being effected by all the springs working in concert i.e.. some folks ship a different firing pin spring when you buy a particular weight of main spring. The only DPM I bought is in either my tactical sports or long slide,I'm at least getting use out of my 60buck investment. Cheers. Be well.

I guess I should have specified that I am talking about a p10. I have a primary machine comp on my p07 and p09 both with cgw guide rods and 15# recoil springs. The p09 has full cgw pro kit installed and the p07 is internally stock besides the recoil assembly and I have had no issues with either setup. The p09 choked on freedom 147 gr hp but the p07 was running it alright but I only put like 50 rounds through it, the p09 I shot a whole match and the jams almost cost me

I don't know if they have changed the style of the plated HP they use for the "Match" ammo, but the 124 and 147 gr versions I bought from Freedom a few years ago would not pass a plunk test in any of my CZ pistols.
