When I was younger and fitter and could shoot 150 rounds/session/gun and 2 sessions per week, I could easily go 2000 rounds between cleanings using a light grease on everything on the P-09. I still go too long between cleanings on the centerfire guns. I've probably shot some really good 100 and 200 yard targets from a rest with a "dirty" gun. I thought about it a lot when I first started shooting pistols.
I came up with the phrase, "No, I'm not gonna clean it, might ruin it" just to cover my experience with the P-09. I shoot fewer rounds per week now, with .22 rounds about twice the rate of the center fire guns, and I clean them ALL more often and more thoroughly than I used to, as in 500 rounds for the Kadet and 1000 rounds for the centerfire guns. Why, I even wipe the powder residue off the red dot sights now a little more often than I used to. And clean my glasses. All good.
