J&G sales - cz 82's $249. or $199. w/ chipped grips
« on: March 09, 2019, 11:07:28 AM »
Was looking around and found these cz 82's at J&G Sales. $249. in good condition, or same gun with chipped grips for $199. The extra mags are a bit stiff at $49. I think if I come up with a few extra bucks I might try to buy one. These are the cheapest prices I've seen in awhile. Why but a Star when you can have an 82 at the same price.

I picked up one with chipped grips a while back. The finish is a bit rough around the muzzle and the front of the grip, but it functions flawlessly and shoots dead on. Definitely recommended.

Great, sounds like you got a good deal. That's kind of a rare creature in the gun world.

My chipped grip CZ 82 from J&G Sales arrived last Monday. It is in better shape than I expected and with the $17.95 magazines from Aim Surplus am good to go. Haven't shot the gun yet but expect it will be good. Didn't appear to have been fired all that much when I field stripped it to clean before shooting. The paint finish on the front of the slide is a little rough but not excessive. All in all I am happy with the $199.95 gun. :)

A lot of guys change the grips anyway, so at $199. it's a win win. The original black plastic are the cheapest, but there are several choices for different styles and material. Enjoy!!!

Took the CZ 82 to the range this morning. It ran fine with FMJ but had trouble feeding the Hornady XTP JHP. Came home and polished the heck out of the feed ramp hoping that will cure the problem. Will find out later in the week.

Finally made it back to the range this morning to test out the feed ramp polish job. Gun ran like a charm with no problem feeding the Hornady XTP JHP ammo this time. I may touch up the feed ramp just a tad to make sure.

You probably know to be careful with the feed ramp and don't remove any material. Just polish the hell outta it. It's not so easy to replace metal on a feed ramp. Glad it worked for you, enjoy it.

I didn't remove any metal from the feed ramp. I used my Dremel tool with a felt polishing tip and jewelers rouge. Made it good and slick and shines like a mirror.

After I received my first $199 I ordered two more.  I intended to refinished them, so wasn?t concerned about the chipped paint or the grips.  One parkerized, second was sniper gray cerakote,(hard to tell which is which). Third is cerakote OD green.  The walnut grips are from CZ USA, and the fit is perfect.

And, if you want to disassemble the 82, there is a very good step by step at Leolani.net.  That sear spring can be a bugger until you learn the process.  I made a tool that makes it much easier.

Yeah I downloaded the step by step. Could you show the end of the tool?

Just a thin bladed screwdriver spare.  Jewelers screwdriver with a shallow v filed in it. I found that it was easier to position the sear spring if the ejector pin was installed.  Use a vise to hold the frame while you pull back the autosafety to position the spring.
