Mine won't stay back when I ride the slide lock with my thumb.

Mine has locked back without fail thus far. But it still has that new car smell (less than 200 rounds through it) I'll update you if i start to notice anything similiar as i put more miles on it.

Same with mine. Ive shortened the left side of the slide release/stop on my C model. Helps a bit. Retraining may help with your thumb riding it if that?s the problem.

will it do it with a empty magazine in and manually pulling the slide back?

Ran 150 rounds with no slide locking issues. Slide to frame fit was the worst I've ever seen outside well used m&ps and tokarev. Sent it back. I should have picked up the p09s when they were on sale to compare.

Most of the time that problem is due to your thumb holding the "slide lock" down. It needs to move up freely to be able to catch the slide.
