cz Shadow 2 Double Feed
« on: May 21, 2019, 03:32:57 PM »
I was at my outdoor range last week shooting Action Pistol with my Shadow-2.  Twice I had a double feed.  Actually the fired casing was seated in the chamber and another round from the magazine was being forced behind the fired casing.  I was shooting Blazer Brass fmj 124gr which as about 10% less muzzle energy than what I normally shoot.  This is the first time I've had an issue with my Shadow 2.  I've probably shot about 1,000 rounds in this gun and I've made no modifications.  Any and all comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

Just a thought:  Was ??? there a double feed out of more than one mag?
Check the mag, spring and follower.

If there is a casing from a fired round in the chamber wouldn't issues around the extractor seem like a place to look first? Doesn't sound like a double feed if there's a fired casing in the chamber.

Agree with Cortelli - a fired case left in the chamber is NOT a double feed.  Check for crud blocking the extractor's movement, or a damaged extractor.

Thanks for the comments.  The extractor looked OK and the chamber didn't feel sticky or tight when I put a round in it before cleaning.  I did thoroughly clean everything and I polished the ramp and chamber.  Not sure if it is even possible with a lighter load for the slide to not to fully open and not eject the fired casing, but pickup a fresh round from the magazine.  I doubt that's a possibility, but I did replace the thicker plastic buffer that came in the gun with the thinnest one of the 5 extras that came with it.  My thinking is that the recoil spring will be slightly less compressed and therefore take a little less recoil to cycle the slide.  Later I went to my nearest indoor range and fired 150 rounds with NO issues.  Thanks again.

I assumed a double feed.  Glad it's running smoothly again.
