75 Omega decocker to safety swap turning out to be a PITA
« on: May 08, 2019, 06:02:18 PM »
Tried to the swap out the decocker for the safety and it is a no go. With the parts that came with the gun the right side safety fits in the frame perfectly but the left side safety does not fit properly into the frame. Called CZ and they sent me new parts. Now the right side safety does not fit in the frame correctly and the left side does. To make it even more interesting the post on the new left side safety they sent me is considerably longer than the original one that came with the gun. I will be calling CZ again tomorrow and asking for a label to have this gun looked at; something is amiss. I have been working on CZ's since 2006 and have never seen anything this screwed up.  >:(

Well CZ will certainly look at the gun but don't be too surprised if you find that's not the problem. Lots of good vids out there on how to swap these parts back and forth.
Seems like newbies to the Omega lock work run into issues swapping the safety/decocker parts around. The first time I did it on my P-07 it was a pain but after a couple times you start too see the process better.
I'd give CGW a call and let them walk you through the process and see how that turns out before sending the gun away.

Did you miss the part where I stated "the replacement left side safety is a different size than the one that came with the gun". The parts do not recess correctly into the frame cutouts. With the original parts the right side safety fits correctly, but the left side safety does not recess correctly into the frame even when placed in by itself. With the replacement parts the right side safety does not fit into the frame cutout but the left side safety does. It gets even better. The replacement left side safety leg is longer than the original left side safety that came with the gun and juts way out of the right side of the frame. The original left side safety does not fit the replacement right side safety and the original right side safety will not fit the replacement left side safety they sent me; so I can't mix and match the parts. I'm not sure what they are smoking at CZ but maybe they can send me some. Going to have a lengthy discussion with CZ when they open tomorrow. I have gotten replacement parts over the years from CZ and never had anything screwy like this happen.

My 75B Omega originally shipped with the wrong safety hardware. A call to CZ resulted in them immediately shipping out a whole new safety assembly. The new assembly worked fine. Did you get a whole new assembly? If not, request one...

My Urban Gray P01 Omega switched from decocker to safeties really slick/easy.

When I got my black P01 Omega I had issues with the safeties not wanting to line up/go together.  I fiddled with them/it for a bit but got no where.

Then it hit me I had a working Urban Gray P01.  I grabbed it, unloaded it, popped the two safeties out and installed them in the black P01 Omega.  No sweat, they went right in.  I figured there was something wrong with those safeties.  The I got another "hit" and grabbed the two from the black P01 lying on the table and they went right into the Urban Gray P01.

Something a little different from one set of safeties or one frame to the other.  To this day they "wear" each other's safeties.

Never had the issue on any of the P07's or P09's.

Based on the one time I had an issue I couldn't correct on my own (tritium front sight on the urban gray P01 died) CZ USA took care of it very quickly after a phone call to talk to them about it) I would expect you'll be taken care of by them.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

No more than you missed the part where I said CZ will certainly look at it for you. Which they will without reservation. CZ has one of the best  service depts. there is. If there is something wrong with the parts they will correct them. If it's the gun they are very good about just replacing the entire pistol. Either way they will take care of you.

I will be calling CZ again today.  Like I stated previously the original parts that came with the pistol do not fit into the frame recess correctly. CZ sent a whole new assembly of a different size and the right side safety component does not fit into the frame recess which as anyone knows who has done this is the easiest part of the safety assembly to install into the pistol.

Spoke with CZ and they agreed it needs to be sent back. Waiting for the label.
