Race hammer vs IDPA legal hammer
« on: September 29, 2019, 09:41:20 AM »
Anyone have both hammers that could tell me the difference in the trigger pull feel between these two hammers?

The CGW hammer has a slightly crisper break, while the CZC comp legal hammer usually comes in with a slightly lighter pull if used with an identical hammer spring.

I was referring to the IDPA legal hammer on CGW site.

Same thing. It's IDPA legal because it's from CZUB.

I have both on a couple different CZs platforms and I couldn't tell you the difference. I'd rather give my money to the Cajuns, but go with the CZ model for rules.

The difference is very sight. At the bench I notice it, in a match I don't notice at all.  Both are great hammers and transform trigger feel

Would you say there it's a little bit more creep between the wall and the break?

If you want the least amount of creep, the choice is clear. You must use CGW’s unique sear and hammer together. Search the forum for all the reasons, but I can say from first hand experience I confirmed this

I actually want a little bit of creep between the wall and break. I have shot a shadow 2 and there is just a little bit of creep before the break that makes it a little more like a rolling break. I have race hammers on both of my CZs right now. Just feel like I have a little more control when I am taking my time on shot placement.

Ah ok I completely understand that, for that rolling break I highly recommend the CZC hammers, but more particularly the Ghost Hammer. I had it on one of my compacts and it has exactly the controllable break you’re talking about, plus the best shape for manual decocking imo

Looks like that is for the safety model. Im fixing up a Phantom which has a decocker. Wish i could feel the pull before I purchase one. It's pretty much the same price as a CGW race hammer. Thanks for the help everyone.
