Grinding off the dovetail, worth it?

Greetings fellow Rami fans.
My brother finally got a Rami, a little beat up so he's going to get it cerakoted and grind off the dovetail. Has anyone on this forum done that or shot one with the dovetail ground off?

Hummmm , are you talking about the beavertail (protrusion at the rear of the frame) or a dovetail (the slot in the slide for mounting sights)?

There is not a lot of gun there to begin with.  I can't think of a mechanical reason to not grind it off.  However I have large hands, I would not want to shoot that without a beavertail (I am guessing that what's you meant) since I think hammer bite would be an issue in fast draw and shoot situations.  Not a big deal, but it does make it less comfortable to shoot and therefore less likely to be trained with.

Although I have no issue carrying mine comfortably, I can see wanting to melt the edges of the beavertail a little. Grinding it off though? I think that very likely ruins the frame. Possible issues would be an inability to get a safe repeatable grip when drawing, hammer bite, and voids in the metal casting.

Having ground off a square trigger guard of a pre-B 75 to re-profile it to a round one I did hit a void that I had to weld closed. This would be my concern with modifying the RAMI frame. I can see shortening it some but not completely removing it...Whatever.

After clarifying it with brother he meant a partial grinding of the dovetail (above the grip) not a complete grinding it all off.
