75B, 11lb hammer spring, and factory ammo
« on: September 17, 2019, 09:58:52 PM »
Checking in on this one. Has anyone been able to get their 75B and BD to run 100% using factory ammo to include Speer/CCI, and Winchester (excluding Tula) with an 11lb CZC hammer spring?

Yes I know about internal polishing most everything, extended firing pin, and reduced power firing pin spring. Let's assume that you have or have done all of this. I also know that a 13 lb hammer spring is recommended to light off any and all primers.

If you can successfully run your 75B pistol using this hammer spring 100% with factory (not reloaded) ammo, I'm all ears and would like to know how you were able to accomplish this feat, assuming you have thoroughly tested it say 500 rounds or more.  ;D

Well, it appears you still need a 13lb hammer spring to reliably and successfully light off factory ammo along with all other accepted measures.

It was worth asking.

I run 11.5lb hammer springs with extended firing pins. I haven't had a problem with light strikes with three shadows. They are range guns so I don't use them for self defense.

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure why the Shadows seem to have no problems with the lighter hammer spring other than having no firing pin block or perhaps a different hammer.

Shadow factory hammers are wider than "B" hammers so I would assume they are are heavier. My oldest shadow has a narrow hammer and it works fine with the 11.5lb spring. Now with a firing pin block maybe it could slow down the firing pin and cause light strikes but I couldn't say for sure.
