Does the CZ-75 BD suffer Sear Wear from the Decocker?
« on: September 15, 2019, 02:44:23 AM »
Quite some time ago -- 2006  -- a forum member (no longer listed as a member) asked about wear on the sear of CZ-75 BD pistols from where it interfaces with the decocker.

https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=2982.msg43308#msg43308

Another forum member -- whose posts here and on other forums have always struck me as well-informed and technically knowledgeable -- answered that it was probably not a problem, and that there wasn't much data about the CZ-75 BD and sear wear available at the time.

As a CZ-75 BD owner, 13 years after that post and response, I wonder if anyone has any new information or insights about the issue?  Any experiences with sear wear or related problems on the CZ-75 BD?  Is there any need to be concerned about this?  - Thanks.

What issue? If there was an actual issue with such a situation we'd be seeing posts about it. I've owned more decocker model pistols than I can remember and never had an issue arise from the decockers use. I've used the decocker on my PCR, 75BD,P-07 and 97BD PLENTY and they still function flawlessly. No indication of any wear problem.  14,000 rounds through the PCR, 22,000 rounds through the 75BD and 12,000 through the P-07.
The items that tend to wear on CZ pistols have been well documented here but sear wear from decocker use hasn't been one I've seen here or elsewhere so as is said in the link you posted it's an unfounded myth. That was 23 years ago and there are a whole lot more BD models in circulation today and this just has never come up.

That's what I was checking -- to see if the subject has re-arisen.  Glad that it has not.

It's kinda funny, but I put a lot of rounds downrange, and have never had a pistol or revolver break on me.  One S&W Mdl 65 developed what S&W calls "cylinder cramps" which means the cylinder turned with difficulty -- the solution was to take the crane apart and clean it!

So I'm not too worried about the CZ-75's.
