Three guns I've come to really like....that aren't CZ's
« on: October 09, 2019, 07:56:43 PM »
The three guns are as follow's:  Freedom Ordnance FX-9, Taurus TX22, Glock 19X.......read on for more details on why for each, explanations will be short....links to each included ;D

FX-9.....$725.....was looking for something 9mm in a carbine, criteria was something a little more updated rather than retrofitted to an older platform. Came across the FX-9 via some extensive research and its pretty stellar reviews along with a lack of disernable negative feedback given its been out couple years I decided to give one a try.  This carbine was designed specifically for the 9mm as a collaborative effort.....and is fully compatible with AR furniture. Have to say I was and am very pleased with the carbine. Only a couple hundred rounds fired, not a hiccup one and its very accurate with just open sights (Magpul MBUS I put on it) out to the 100yds I pushed it to.

Taurus TX22....$300 (less now $250-ish)......I've owned a full spectrum of 22 pistols over the last few decades, from higher end ($1200) to Kadet kits ($350) and many in between, but I will say the Taurus TX-22 is a pretty awesome pistol. I am in no way a Taurus lover, far from it.....BUT, they did right by this pistol!  I haven't had any problems, none, zilch, notta.....in over 500rds. I wouldn't go so far as to say its a bullseye gun but its definitely accurate, carries 16+1 rounds (10+1 also available) and is exceptionally dependable, something I never thought I would say about a 22 pistol.  The grip design is excellent, just melts into your hand, and the gun is very well balanced. In fact I now own (2) TX-22's,  neither has ever malfuntioned in ANY way.

Glock 19X....$625...never owned a Glock, never felt the need until now.....mainly since the FX-9 takes Glock mags ::).   Not going to beat a drum about the pistol, I find it to be pleasant to shoot moreso than just hold, which I've done often and is why I probably never bought one... they feel blocky to hold, but feel MUCH better when shooting....go figure :o . Its accurate and reliable, just like folks say.......enough said.

Just some thoughts on my experience.......there are many reviews on youtube for each of these if one desires to get other opinions  ;)

If you like the Glock 19 buy feel it is blocky then when you get a chance try a Glock 48/43X.
I believe you will find the Glock 48/43X feels much better.

been looking around at 9mm carbines in AR format for a while.  don't understand why they aren't available in more budget-friendly products like the AR-15 is.

In that particular platform it just depends upon what your idea of what budget-friendly is.
There are several what I call budget friendly 9 mm AR's for 350.00 and up .
Price depends upon the name brand you're willing to purchase.
For me , when I'm buying a rifle it's going to be in a rifle caliber.
A pistol cartridge in a 16 inch barrel AR , you  gain  about 400 FPS. And of course more rounds per mag.

My AR 9MM carbine.  Yeah, I wanted it to look like an XM177, which I always thought were real cool looking carbines.  No, it wasn't all that cheap with the barrel cutting/threading/pinning/welding, the front sight base drilling/pinning to the barrel and the conversion kit for the mag well and special flash suppressor and the 9MM bolt.  But it's not much more than a good .223 build.

Oh, forgot about the A1 upper receiver till I looked at the picture.  Maybe it is more than decent AR15 build.  A Scorpion is more expensive than a cheap AR15 build.

My favorite .22 will always be that old Ruger Mk1 5.5" bull barrel.  Like a short barreled hand held .22 rifle.  No pictures of it, been in the attic for 30+ years (I need to locate it and go over it and take it to the range now and then - saw a guy shooting one at the range the other day and at 12 yds. he was not doing it justice.  Minute of pie plate at 100 yds. is okay, not at 12 yds.)

But, my favorite pistol is a CZ, so for me it's only two out of three aren't CZ's.  The only centerfire pistol I have that shoots better than this old DUTY P07 .40 S&W is my CZ 9MM P09.  Wore this one today when I took my wife up to get a hair cut and took a walk through the Walmart up there to buy up some Winchester 180 grain hollow points (.40) for the FNS long slide and Winchester 147 grain 9MM hollow points for the M&P 2.0 in 5".  And dog food, cat food, etc., etc., etc.  Concealed of course.  I carried it concealed before Walmart got "funny."

Yeah, it was sweaty the day I took that picture.

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
