My CZ SP-01 Shadow Target Custom
« on: October 29, 2019, 01:29:23 PM »
Admin, please delete if this type of question is not permitted here.

I have a very gently used CZ SP-01 Shadow Target Custom. I've thought about selling it and was wondering what you guys thought was a fair price. I've had it on a local forum at $1K but have had very little interest. Is $1K unreasonable for a CZ like this? Maybe I should just keep it. Thanks.

IMHO your price is fair, it’s just a really tough market right now. Fantastic plastic is taking over the market. If I were you I would probably just keep it.

So $1K is a reasonable price for a lightly used CZ Custom pistol? I have a trade in the works and that is the max the other party is willing to go.
Are the newer SP-01 custom guns that much better that mine is not as desirable?

I think it is just what the market will pay for a used shadow target.

A few months ago I found one at a small gun shop up north, a shop which seems to get a lot of used cz and sti guns.  I think there is a healthy amount of guys with higher end guns in that region.  The shop was asking $900 for the shadow target I picked up.  It is very lightly used, almost new condition.  This was about 25% lower than the new price.

I think this 25% price reduction for a used gun can be seen across other platforms.  I have an almost new m&p that would have been about $400 new.  Nobody wants to pay more than $300 on it, which is right at 25% off new price.

Have not sold any Cz's but have sold 1911's and Sigs and my experience is used firearms will only go for 60%-70% of MSRP. I think the other qualifier is how old is the gun.  I think the buying public wants the "latest and greatest". Not hat tthere is anything wrong with an older gun but people are aware that manufacturers of any product make changes along the way but not always enough of a change to initiate a new model number.  Example: perhaps a change in the formulation of a coating or a finish might be better for wear but will not change the model number. Finally, of course there is a lot of "disposable income" in this world today so people are not afraid to spend as their mood strikes them!
Just sayin'!
