I did get my skills back well enough to JUST miss Distinguished Expert by one...flapping...point...oh well.

It's amazing how quickly pistol skills diminish without training.

It reminds me a lot of golf in that way.  If I don't get out and play on a regular basis, my game goes to hell and a hand-basket.  If I don't get out to the range at least once a week, my relay times really reflect it.

Couldn't agree more. I also use the golf analogy when my non-shooting friends ask me if I won my last match(every time). They look at me like I'm crazy when I explain it all depends who I'm competing with. Then I tell them that average Joes compete with seasoned pros, childhood prodigies etc. When I still get the blank stare, I tell them at one match it may be the shooting equivalent of Tiger Woods and at another a Brooks Koepka. So no, I didn't win :)
