While I like my P-07 it is the only gun currently in my stable that is being considered as the next one to get orphaned mainly because it is the only plastic framed pistol I own. I have no interest in striker fired guns and my CZ PCR and my Sig M11 A1's are the only guns I have any interest in carrying.

Hi Vinny,

The P30 and P2000, V3 for both (DA/SA), I carry the P30 in the winter, and the P2000 in early Fall and late Spring, or when I feel like carrying appendix.

Question for Mountaineering OP:
Just curious which HK P-series you're staying with, and what trigger mode: DA/SA or LEM?
Thanks for the explanation. DA/SA for primary carry; especially appendix makes perfect sense. HK makes some fine pistols; I especially like their extremely durable, slick and easy to clean finish. Good choice for sure.
One of the reasons I like my P-07's is the durable Nitride finished slide and barrel and polished feed ramp; which IMHO are a plus at that price-point. Feeds everything I throw at it. Feels so well balanced in my medium hands and it shoots lights-out for me.  O0
As others have pointed out, the P-07's unique Omega trigger allows DA/SA or SA cocked-locked carry; your choice. Not as polished as an HK; but it sure gets the job done in spades.

I've often thought about trying an HK P30sk, but my assortment of CZ's from SP-01 TAC, P-07, P-01, to RAMI BD, all equipped with optics covers my bases with the same manual of arms.  Only wish is for a Micro-9 DA/SA decocker pocket-carry with the capacity of my SIG P365. Could be a long wait.

The OP seems to like his Glocks more, side by side with CZ these two pistols Point completely different.
As a few people have mentioned switching from one gun to another on a day-to-day basis for your EDC and my eyes is not a good idea.
That would be a bit confusing to me, going from striker-fired to hammer fired,to DAO , TO DA/ SA ,
Safety , no safety, decocker ,  no decocker..
I don't know how you keep them straight in your mind, and when the SHTF  your brain is going to be scrambled to start with, then the questions hit your mind, which gun did I bring today ? does it have a safety. I hope I brought the right magazines for this pistol ?
JMHO , find one gun that you really like , practice with it and carry it everyday.
Again when the SHTF , you got to know that you know that you know what you're carrying.

I started out with non Glocks . Bought  a G 34 as far as shooting the grip angle it was slightly different at first but after a ton of rounds down range I don't really think about it anymore . I think the grip angle argument is slightly overblown IMO .  Like I said before the best firearm is the one that works for you .

Yup, the price point for the P07 is hard to beat, $400: put a CGW short reset kit, CGW hammer spring for under $100, and you have an incredible deal. Especially for the quality, as you mentioned, the nitriding on the P07 is bombproof, the samples I had were better finished than the p10(s) I bought. This value was the main reason I picked up the platform to evaluate.

If I go full dot-life, I may, one day find myself with a P07 again, the way the HK P-series slides are so heavily milled out for weight savings, makes cutting for an optic, precarious to most millers.

The HK P-series could use a refresh, to bring it inline with the modern day switch to optics on pistols.

One worry I have is that the HK P-series, and the CZ Omega polymer P-series, will never get updated from here on out, maybe the last in the line of polymer, defensive use, hammer fired da/sa pistols.

yeah, sometimes I think people hear stuff from somewhere, and in their minds it makes sense, its reverberated in their echo chamber, and it becomes dogma.

as soon as i grip a glock, i know it's a glock instantaneously by feel, my brain makes the connections instantaneously, and it comes out slightly canted, same with the P30 and it's presentation.

I own a truck and a car, i drive the truck, i know where everything is and operating it is second nature.  when i switch to my car, its a manual, i know where everything is and operating it is second nature.

These people are acting like, the working of two platforms at the same time is impossible or needs an enhanced human being, when in actuality they have confused the operation and familiarity of the automotive example above, with pretending like the second vehicle is a rental car you have no experience with and are fumbling around to find the wiper controls when it starts raining, looking for the trunk release, or trying to work its, new to you, infotainment and navigation system.

When the SHTF, all your familiarity with all those different pistols goes right out the window.
Like I said you better know that you know your pistol. Good luck and happy shooting.

Yup, exactly the reason I picked up my first P-07; as it was an ideal pistol to mill for carry-optics. I liked it so much, I bought a second one. After a short learning curve, the optic pistols are simply faster and more accurate for me. And of course I ended up milling all my other CZ's too. I use this one to compete in local USPSA carry-optics. I can't run with the young guys, but it keeps me in the game!

Vinny,

that's a sweet setup - luv the leupold dot with the shield arms mag extensions!

Thanks Mountaineer,
Seems like you really enjoy experimenting with different platforms.
IMHO it won't be long before Dots on pistols will be as standard as Scopes on rifles. They're just that much quicker and more accurate. And the P-07/P-09 with Ambi controls make an exceptionally good host to run SAO or DA/SA with the Omega choice.
The DPP is built like a tank, I like the large window; and for faster shooting my 'ol eyes with a bit of astigmatism have been liking the 7.5 moa triangle. The +5 Shield Arms mag extensions work 100% for 20+1 and fit the USPSA gauge easily. Prefer the P-07's flatter trigger, and now with 6K+ down the pipe the stock DA/SA just keeps getting better. The UG finish has mellowed into more of a light FDE.  No doubt the HK's might be better for certain purposes but....... Really, the P-07 came with just what I needed for an excellent hammer-fired DA/SA all-purpose optic pistol. Nightstand, EDC, Competition. My SP-01 Tac with DPP is great too, but not something you would want to lug around all day.  ;)   Enjoy your choices and be safe!  -Vinny

Great to be an American, great to live in a free state where you can exercise your freedom. Buy whatever tool works for you & make your shooting better. I came from 1911s to HKs, to CZs. Now more than 14 CZ's in the house. I recently bought P10C optics ready, but due to its smaller grip, that is going to wifey, to join her other  P10C without optics. The size of my claws makes only the P07, P09, phantom and P01 with lok grips and an additional front tape the best for handling & recoil management in my case.
I am still not man enough to use the SP01 & 1911 for training classes. That metal always beat my hand raw..lol, so sticking to polymers.
Enjoy your new choice brotha, and who knows you might find your way back to P07/P09 in the future.
Great to have choices, enjoy it with no regret

*** CZ will drop another P07 version next year to go with the new trend if you know what I mean.....

I’m curious what support you’re looking for and can’t find?  I’ll grant that there’s not Glock like support, but there’s still a lot of support. About the only thing I haven’t been able to find that I want is a Safariland ALS duty holster for an 07 with a RMR on it.
