Inadvertant double taps
« on: October 31, 2019, 10:24:30 PM »
I have a brand new CZ 75 P-01 SDP from CZ Customs.  Beautiful pistol (purchased new from Tombstone Tactical).  The double action is wonderful and the single action is too, except, it may be too light, especially for defensive carry.  I'm getting inadvertent double taps kinda regularly.  If I take it down to CZ Custom, can this be fixed?

While I am there, I just might pick up a Rami BD because...just because.

I've noticed the same with my P-01 Omega. Light SA pull and nice short reset can cause double taps. I was able to manage this with better, solid grip. Otherwise you will have to make your SA heavier.

Are you riding the reset?

I am undoubtedly riding the reset -- and I can train myself away from that but, I had planned to use the P-01 SDP with an OLight as my home defense pistol and now I think it is not really safe for that particular use.

I'm over thinking this.  The SA is actually terrific and I shouldn't complain that the reset is too.  I will leave this SDP as is and learn to shoot it. I'll use my Sig P229 Legion with the OLight for nighttime defense and use the CZ for sport shooting.

And I am on my way now to CZ Custom to pick up a Rami BD. I swear, I am done buying firearms for a while. I promise.

P-01 SDP is a tactical gun so it has to be used wisely and carefully for self-defense. If you are not comfortable with it go with regular P-01 or P-01 Omega.

Oh... UPDATE... in the meantime you made your decision  ;D

Just keep on shooting it so you’ll get used to the trigger pull. That’s the best way around it.

How light are we talking about, less than a lb? 1 lb SA? Etc.

On the P-01 SPD the SA trigger pull is probably 3.5 pounds -- which is just fine. It's just got a short reset that surprises me.
I did purchase a Rami BD custom today from CZ Custom and boy is the DA and SA nice.
Walked out of there with a Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm too.  Factory trigger on that one is outstanding and I am basically a 1911 guy.  CZ's are new to me but I have long admired them.  Now I own two.  The Rami will be for carry.

I enjoyed my visit and was treated well.  I just stripped, cleaned and lubed the Rami and put a few rounds through it.  Smooth, easy to shoot, sights are fine -- I am pleased.  I had no intention of walking out with 2 pistols but I have had a DW Razorback (10mm) in mind for a long time and, since you had one, I jumped on it.  10mm is a favorite round and I have a number of 10mm pistols but did not have a DW until now.  I'll clean, lubricate and shoot it tomorrow.  Thanks for the unique pistols.
