SP-01 recoil spring life
« on: November 06, 2019, 01:57:18 PM »
I have an SP-01 that I bought last year and it now has just under 21,000 rounds through it.  I still have the factory flat wire spring in it and it does not seem to have lost any tension since it was new.  I am used to having to change springs every 5,000 rounds or so in full size 9mm's and every 3,000 rounds in a full size .45 ACP 1911 but this flat wire spring in the SP-01 is still going strong.  For those of you who have them how long does the factory flat wire spring usually last?

Not sure if the SP-01 series is kinder to recoil springs, but on every P-01 I've owned, I start seeing issues at around 7,000 rounds. Heavier and hotter rounds seem to wear the spring out faster than lighter, slower 115gr for me.

Well, I guess not too many people have the springs on the full size SP-01 wear out.
